[Townstar] Why you should pre-plan your farm, industry, and residential areas

In Town Star, all towns have the same available tiles of 16x16. Of course, there are differences in the space that can be used immediately depending on the terrain, but eventually, the final space becomes the same as unnecessary trees, wetlands, and shrubs are removed over time.

At this time, the number of tiles itself is quite generous, but in reality, many things must be considered when building buildings. In particular, each building often reduces the production efficiency of each other due to various factors such as shadows, wind, and pollution. More details related to this will be covered in a separate article, and to explain it more simply for beginners, it is recommended to perform 'zoning' within the town before building a building.

It sounds grand, but there's really nothing difficult about it. Just think of designating land for farming, places to place various industrial facilities, and living spaces for workers to live in in advance, and grouping and placing them together.

For example, crops such as wheat fields, sugarcane fields, and tree farms are sensitive to pollution and shadows, but they do not affect each other, so there is no problem even if they are clustered in one place. Industrial facilities have a fatal impact on crop growth due to pollution and shadow generation, but the items produced in industrial facilities do not increase the required time due to these factors, so there is no problem even if they are clustered together.

Worker's houses basically provide 2 shadows, and forklifts that provide higher-level workers have an additional 2 pollution. Therefore, it is best to build the accommodation away from the farm area, and the industrial worker accommodation can be placed closer to the industrial area where the pollution level is already high and there are no buildings affected.

For reference, the workers' accommodation does not necessarily need to be directly connected to farms or industrial facilities by roads. This is because when there is work to be done, workers do not return after leaving the accommodation and continue to work, so if you want to use space efficiently while taking this into account, installing a road in the corner of the map and arranging the accommodation in a cross shape is a way to build more accommodation. Also, when operating a ranch, the ATV only creates 1 shadow, unlike other buildings, so it can be built closer to windmills or farms, which helps with space utilization.

If the west side is a river, reverse the arrangement to utilize it for crop growth.
