Blockchain-based battle royale, 'GRIT' released on the Epic Games Store

Blockchain game platform Gala Games announced on the 30th that its blockchain game 'GRIT' has been officially released on the Epic Games Store. Epic Games Store users can enjoy it for free after linking their Gala Games account, but it is currently unavailable in Korea.
GRIT is a third-person shooter (TPS) battle royale game set in the American West. Players must survive as cowboys in the American Wild West, avoiding sandstorms and other players. To do this, they can use over 400 different gun combinations, trains, and horses. In particular, GRIT emphasizes the fun of mounted combat, such as shooting guns while riding horses.
Gala Games has incorporated blockchain technology into the character design of GRIT. Users who purchase the 'Gunslinger Box' on the Gala Games platform will receive one of over 10,000 different characters. These characters are non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and can be used in the game or sold on the NFT marketplace Opensea. In addition, some consumables, including bags, and paid battle passes are being sold.
This is the second time Gala Games has released a game through a global PC game platform. In November of last year, the game 'Superior' was released in Steam Early Access. Superior is a cooperative TPS game in which players nurture characters and cooperate with other users to fight against monstrous super heroes.
A Gala Games official said, “We are pleased to finally introduce the Web3 game GRIT to the Epic Games Store, which has over 200 million users worldwide.” He added, “We look forward to seeing many gamers ride horses, race across the wilderness, and compete to see who is the true gunslinger to rule the West.”
Meanwhile, the Epic Games Store is considered one of the two major players in the PC game platform industry along with Steam. According to Epic Games, the total number of PC users of the Epic Games Store is over 230 million, an increase of 36 million last year alone. Last year, the monthly active users (MAU) reached a maximum of 68 million.
