Major Gameplay Changes, 'Cyberpunk 2077' 2.0 Applied

CD Projekt Red announced today the release of the free 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077. With this update, players can experience major gameplay changes and new features such as redesigned skill trees and perks, cyberware and vehicle combat and chases, and the police system. CD Projekt Red also hosted a new episode of REDStream on Twitch along with the 2.0 update, featuring gameplay changes and developer interviews.

The 2.0 update is the largest free update to Cyberpunk 2077, and is said to improve the game experience from all perspectives by applying new and changed features. All gamers who own Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC can apply the update now.

The most important gameplay improvement in the 2.0 update is the completely redesigned skill tree and perks. New skills can now be found in the game, allowing you to play in new ways. The newly improved skill tree gives players more freedom and makes it easier and more intuitive to build unique and effective playstyles.

In addition, a key change added to the game is the revamped cyberware system. Now, defense is increased through cyberware rather than clothing. In the 2.0 update, cyberware has an equip limit that matches the character's level. This change requires a more strategic approach when visiting a Ripperdoc to equip cyberware, and is expected to add diversity to the gameplay.

Vehicle combat is a new system added to the game, allowing you to use weapons and quickhacks while driving. Players can now freely shoot while driving or wield a katana on a motorcycle, and remotely control or explode enemy vehicles with quickhacks. In addition, dynamic vehicle chase quests can now be carried out throughout Night City.

Along with vehicle combat, a new police system has also been implemented in the game. The police respond to crimes with improved AI, and a new threat escalation system has been implemented. The NCPD now responds more appropriately to players' actions and uses new means such as barricades depending on the level of crime. If the highest crime level is reached, MaxTac will respond directly to the players. MaxTac, the NCPD's elite unit, is expected to be implemented as a more dynamic and very challenging boss fight.

The above are part of the 2.0 update, and all the details such as improved enemy AI, UI and UX improvements, rewards, items, and crafting balancing were covered in the latest REDStream by CD Projekt Red's lead gameplay designer Filip Downar, gameplay designer & gameplay coordinator Rafał Obrębski.

Also, the 2.0 update adds a new radio station to the main game. Growl FM is a radio channel featuring songs created by the Cyberpunk 2077 community. Idris Elba, the Hollywood actor who played Solomon Reed in the expansion pack, is the DJ for Impulse Radio. You can also find two songs by Idris Elba on Darkstar Radio.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a complete expansion pack that expands the main game and will be released on September 26 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and can also be streamed via GeForce NOW. Phantom Liberty is a completely new spy thriller story that offers adventures in new areas, new quests, contracts, items, weapons, and more. 'Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty' is available for pre-purchase on the above platforms.

More information about Cyberpunk 2077 and the expansion pack, Phantom Liberty, can be found on the game's official website, Naver Cafe, Facebook, and X.
