Moon Ho-joon Shows 'Prime Days Force,' Takes 1st Place in Individual Match D
The '2023 KartRider Drift League (KDL)' Round of 32 Group D matches were held at the Vita500 Colosseum in Jamsil on the 28th. Group D consisted of 'RunNing', the winner of the previous season's individual competition, as well as 'WooJun-Thing-Promise-HyunSoo-Duzzi-Percent-HoJun'.
The first to catch the eye was 'HoJun'. 'HoJun', who took first place in Round 1 with a flawless run from start to finish, won Round 2 thanks to a combination of luck and skill. Thanks to the fierce body checks in the top ranks, 'HoJun', who had fallen to 7th place, had a chance to turn the tables, and 'HoJun' seized that opportunity.
However, three consecutive wins were not easy. In Round 3, 'HoJun', who started in 4th place, tried to move up one place at a time to aim for 1st place, but had to settle for 2nd place due to the flawless driving of the leader 'HyunSoo'. 'HyunSoo', who won Round 3, recorded a joint 1st place with 'RunNing' in Round 4, but failed to achieve three consecutive 1st place finishes after being involved in a major accident in the early stages of Round 5.
With two wins, 'HoJun' and 'HyunSoo' secured their place in the top ranks, and 'Thing', who finished 2nd in Rounds 5 and 6, rose to 3rd place. However, as 'HoJun' and 'HyunSoo', who had surpassed 40 points at the 7th round, rarely made it to the podium, the game was prolonged, and 'RunNing' came out on top in the meantime. 'RunNing' took both Rounds 8 and 9 while 'Thing' faltered, and quickly rose to 2nd place, surpassing even 'HyunSoo'.
The 1st place was confirmed in Round 10. 'HoJun', who had 49 points, won the fierce battle for the lead with 'Thing', drawing a perfect ending. 'HyunSoo' regained 2nd place, and 'RunNing' also went straight to Round 16 in 3rd place. 'Thing' headed to the losers' bracket with a disappointing 3-point difference. However, the game was not over. 'Promise-Duzzi-WooJun' recorded a joint 5th place with 25 points, resulting in a three-way tiebreaker for the last spot in the losers' bracket. As a result, 'WooJun' was the first to cross the finish line and secured a place in the losers' bracket.
