Cost-effectiveness: 17 ethereal & 18 ethereal vs 22 CRA
Crafting Standard Date: [2023-10-25]
*Karu parts are based on auction house prices
*Aurora server auction house prices, other servers may have large discrepancies
*Not all opportunity costs were valued
*This post is written with a slow-progression alt character in mind, not a main character immediately upgrading gear, so all events are utilized
*This is viewed as cost-effective for a veteran player's liberation alt character, so it's based on a Genesis weapon 17-star ethereal, and resources such as Union Shop~Coin Shop, events, and mileage are not valued (Unique Potential Scroll was valued)
*Ethereal is based on 2 lines of Unique potential each
*3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab -> Only Cooltime Hat version calculated ==> Compared to 4 CRA 5 AbsoLab (set effect, stats per part + 6 AbsoLab comparison
*3 Ethereal 4 Master Label 5 AbsoLab is impossible on Aurora server, so it's excluded
*4 Ethereal 5 AbsoLab ==> Compared to 4 CRA 5 AbsoLab
*Ethereal Star Force cost is calculated with 17-star expected value of 22 and 18-star expected value of 48
*Ethereal clean slate is based on 3 billion
*Aurora server Cooltime Hat issue, so it's calculated with a 3-second hat
*Main stat 1% = main stat 10, all stat 1% = main stat 1.1%, attack 1 = main stat 3.5, boss damage 1% = main stat 11 (All stat % takes sub-stats into account, but overall, I didn't bother calculating sub-stats)
*Parts using the same slot are excluded from the calculation
Basic Calculation!
*Price to get 2 lines of Unique potential on a 17-star ethereal (calculated with expected value only)*
Clean slate 3 billion, 17 stars 2.2 billion (Based on: Star Catch all set, Spare 3 billion, Protection Scroll X)
Legendary Potential Scroll 250 million, Epic Potential Scroll 500 million
17% 100 million (excluding Master Craftsman's Cube price)
Additional potential 2 lines 350 million
15% Spell Trace cost (half-price event) (based on 2800 per trace, hat 550 million, top/bottom 390 million)
Hat 6.95 billion, top/bottom each 6.79 billion
Total 20.53 billion
---------------------------------------------
Ethereal stat calculation for comparison
*Ethereal additional stats are calculated with a 166 stat, which has the same expected value as a 150 stat Arcane Shade
*Top potential 17%, additional potential 5% attack 11
17 Ethereal
ㄴHat main stat 838.5
ㄴTop/bottom each main stat 754.5
========================================
1. 3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab (AbsoLab 3-second cooldown hat) vs 4 CRA 5 AbsoLab (CRA 3-second cooldown hat)
Comparison target: Ethereal top/bottom + cooldown hat + set effect vs CRA hat top/bottom + set effect
Note: Genesis Weapon
3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab
Top/bottom Ethereal 13.58 billion
3-second AbsoLab cooldown hat (18 stars) 11 billion: main stat 641.5
(ㄴStats: 18 stars 3-second 9% additional potential 4% attack 10 15% traced additional stat 103)
Ethereal top/bottom main stat 1509
3 Ethereal options attack 80 all stat 50 boss damage 20%
6 AbsoLab options attack 20
Total: 2775.5
4 CRA 5 AbsoLab
3-second CRA cooldown hat (18 stars) 15 billion: main stat 552
(ㄴStats: 18 stars 3-second random additional potential 4% attack 10 15% fully traced additional stat 135)
(ㄴ-> 4 billion subtracted from CRA top/bottom budget -> 9.58 billion)
CRA top/bottom main stat 1308.5 -> 1362
(ㄴAverage stats: 18 stars 21% additional potential 4% attack 10 30% fully traced additional stat 121)
급)
4 CRA options attack 50 boss damage 30%
Total: 2418.5
3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab is superior by a difference of 357 main stat
ps: After roughly calculating, the stat hat also showed a similar pattern, with 3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab being slightly superior to 4 CRA 5 AbsoLab (the difference is smaller than the cooldown hat)
=========================================
2. 4 Ethereal 5 AbsoLab (stat)
Comparison target: Ethereal 3 parts + set effect vs CRA 3 parts + set effect
Note: Genesis Weapon
4 Ethereal 5 AbsoLab
Ethereal hat top/bottom 20.53 billion
Ethereal hat top/bottom total main stat 2347.5
4 Ethereal set options attack 120 all stat 50 boss damage 30%
Total: main stat 3152.5
4 CRA 5 AbsoLab
CRA hat top/bottom total main stat 1977
(ㄴAverage stats: 18 stars 24% additional potential 4% attack 10 30% fully traced additional stat 133)
4 CRA set options attack 50 boss damage 30% luck 20
Total: main stat 2502
4 Ethereal 5 AbsoLab is superior by a difference of 650.5 main stat
ps: For cooldowns of 3 seconds or more, 3 Ethereal 6 AbsoLab or 3 Ethereal 6 Arcane Shade if the item is really good, and for 2 seconds or less, 4 Ethereal 5 AbsoLab or 4 Ethereal 5 Arcane Shade would be better
ps2: Without a Genesis Weapon, the 3 Ethereal set is better than the 3 CRA set by 730.5 main stat
========================================
3. Ethereal 18 vs CRA 22 stars
*Calculated only with all 3 parts equipped (CRA requires all 3 to have a meaningful set effect)
Ethereal 18 stars (17% additional potential 5% attack 11)
Clean slate 3 billion, 18 stars 4.8 billion
Legendary Potential Scroll 250 million, Epic Potential Scroll 500 million
17% 100 million (excluding Master Craftsman's Cube price)
Additional potential 2 lines 350 million
15% Spell Trace cost (half-price event) (based on 2800 per trace, hat 550 million, top/bottom 390 million)
Hat 9.55 billion, top/bottom each 9.39 billion
--------------------------------------------
Ethereal stat calculation for comparison
*Ethereal additional stats are calculated with a 166 stat, which has the same expected value as a 150 stat Arcane Shade
*Top potential 17%, additional potential 5% attack 11
18 Ethereal
ㄴHat main stat 911.5
ㄴTop/bottom each main stat 827.5
4 Ethereal set options attack 120 all stat 50 boss damage 30% = main stat 805
4 Ethereal total main stat 3371.5
CRA 22 stars 15% fully traced, top potential 15% additional potential 4% attack 10 additional stat 139
4 CRA total stats 3372, same as 18-star 4 Ethereal
Therefore, same potential 18 Ethereal = 22 CRA
Based on the above calculation, 4 Ethereal (17 stars) and 4 CRA (21 stars) differ by 2.2 main stat per part (21 stars is higher)
=======================================================
Three-line conclusion
1. 17-star Ethereal Unique potential is definitely more cost-effective than CRA (Aurora standard)
2. If you're a stat hat class, it's better to use 3 Ethereal parts than an AbsoLab hat
3. 18-star Ethereal is hard to see as cost-effective, but if you're going to craft or cube, it's a hundred times better to do it on Ethereal than CRA
