Atlanta Reign, 'Undefeated Victory' at Overwatch Mid-Season Madness

The Atlanta Reign won the Overwatch League 'Midseason Madness' with an undefeated record, lifting their first trophy since the team's founding.
The Overwatch League's first global tournament of the season, 'Midseason Madness,' concluded its three-day journey on the 18th at KINTEX in Ilsan, South Korea. This is the first time the Overwatch League has held a large-scale offline event in the Asia-Pacific region where the strongest teams from the East and West meet.
Midseason Madness is a global on-site event that marks the highlight of the Spring Stage (held for three months from April to June), which corresponds to the first half of the regular season. A total of six teams, four from the West and two from the East, including the Seoul-based Dynasty and Infernal, competed for a total prize pool of $900,000 (approximately 1.2 billion Korean won). The tournament was conducted in a double-elimination format.

The final match was between the Atlanta Reign (ATL) and the Houston Outlaws (HOU). ATL reached the final match first with an undefeated record at this Midseason Madness. HOU defeated the Florida Mayhem 3:1 in the losers' final to advance to the final match. Until the final match, ATL met HOU three times in Midseason Madness and won all of them.
Until the second game of the final, ATL easily won in Ilios and Blizzard World. In the third game, Shambali Monastery, Fearless' Ramattra and Pelican's Mei showed good performance, and HOU caught up with one game.
In the 4th game, Esperanca, ATL won, leaving only 1 match point. ATL's Lip's Sombra contributed to the victory by showing impressive EMP usage. In addition, Fielder showed impressive back support using Ana.
HOU, with nowhere to retreat, chose the Antarctic Peninsula as the 5th game map. However, ATL firmly defended their position and confirmed their victory as it was.
The competition was broadcast online and watched live at the venue. All online viewing rewards were provided to fans who visited the site at once, and limited-edition chicken and beer sprays and League Tokens were additionally provided for each day of the week. On Friday the 16th, Boston Uprising, Atlanta Reign, Florida Mayhem, and Houston Outlaws from the Western region, and on Saturday the 17th, Seoul Infernal held exclusive fan meetings with fans.
In addition, various types of participatory events were constantly operated during the period, such as the 'Photoism Booth' where you can take personalized photos in frames with Eastern and Western themes, the 'Goods Sharing Table' where golden-handed fans who are as good as experts can freely show off the goods they made themselves, the 'Scratch Coupon Event with No Blanks', and the 'Photowall Hashtag Event'.

Blizzard will hold the 'Overwatch World Cup' online qualifiers from June 23 to July 2 as the next competition schedule. This Overwatch World Cup is the first tournament to be held since 2019. 40 teams from all over the world will be divided into 6 groups to compete. This fall, 16 teams will compete on-site to determine the Overwatch World Cup champion.
