Optimized Power Efficiency DDR5 Computer RAM, Micron Crucial DDR5-5600 CL46 PRO Package Review

As PC memory transitions from DDR4 to DDR5, performance improves and capacity increases, greatly enhancing overall system performance. Micron has released various DDR5 memory products, and the Micron Crucial DDR5-5600 CL46 PRO package is a memory optimized for high-performance games and multitasking, featuring a heatsink.

Impressively, the memory's performance is improved by about 50% compared to DDR4, and it supports Intel's XMP3.0 and AMD's EXPO, boasting perfect compatibility.

The Micron Crucial DDR5-5600 CL46 PRO package comes in a transparent plastic box, and the 16GB RAM with a heatsink is packaged in a transparent material so you can see the inside. The capacity is clearly marked, indicating that the 2 RAMs combine to form a 32GB kit.

You can check the memory capacity and other information from the outside without opening it.

- AMD EXPO

A profile that started being supported in AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, it can be said to be a one-click overclocking function. It allows you to experience the merits of powerful DDR5 memory overclocking with profiles optimized for Ryzen.

- INTEL XMP 3.0 READY

A profile optimized for Intel 13th and 14th generation processors, it redefines clock, speed, voltage, and latency to provide the best performance.

The memory in the transparent plastic box has a large capacity of 32GB and is designed with a slim form factor, and boasts extreme cooling performance by applying a heatsink. Thanks to the compact design with a thickness of 32mm, stable system maintenance is possible, and it can be said to be the optimal memory for those who do not want RGB effects.

A sticker with simple specifications is attached to the back of the memory. As explained earlier in the specifications, it is pre-overclocked with a 5,600MHz clock / RAM timing 46-45-45-90 / 1.1V voltage.

It consists of two 32-bit channels per module for twice the simultaneous operations, and the burst length is doubled, allowing files to be processed faster with DDR5's efficient design.

Micron Crucial DDR5-5600 CL46 PRO Package 32GB Specifications

For desktop / DDR5 / 5600MHz (PC5-44800) / RAM timing: CL46-45-45 / 1.10V / Number of RAMs: 2 / XMP3.0 / EXPO / On-die ECC / Heatsink: Heatsink / Heatsink color: Black

When installing memory on the motherboard, you usually buy 2 at a time and configure them in dual channel in slots 1-3 and 2-4, because this is how you can get the best performance. To apply XMP normally, you need to configure a 2-4 dual channel.

- 동영상 MSI MAG B760M 박격포 맥스 WIFI

- RTX3060

If you enter the BIOS with the above specifications installed, you can use the Memory Try It! function, which allows you to apply the desired clock like the XPM profile, to OC more easily manually. After selecting the desired profile in Memory Try It! and rebooting, the corresponding clock, RAM timing, and voltage are applied as is, allowing users who are not familiar with memory overclocking to easily apply and use high-performance memory.

2 types of overclocking RAM clock & RAM timing & applied voltage

▶ DDR5 5600MHz 46-45-45-90 / 1.10V

▶ DDR5 5200MHz 42-42-42-83 / 1.10V

You can check the clock and RAM timing through the CPU-Z program, and if you measure the memory read, copy, write, and latency values measured through AIDA64, you can see that the performance also increases as the clock increases. The read, copy, and latency values, excluding the write speed, are noticeably improved when overclocking, especially the latency is reduced from 86.1ns → 83.1ns, showing the improvement in memory performance numerically.

The benchmark results from CPU-Z show that there is a clear overclocking effect in single-thread and multi-thread. The CPU single-thread increased from 899.5 → 901.4, and the CPU multi-thread also improved from 14688.5 points in the regular clock to 14745.6 points in the overclock.

The memory mark score tested in PerformanceTest is 3463 at 5,200, which corresponds to the 86% section, and 3560 at 5,600, which enters the 95% section, so you can see that the performance improvement is about 9% for convenience.

The memory performance measured in NovaBench was 353 at 5,200 and 357 at 5600, showing a slight performance improvement.

If you overclock the memory in the actual game and benchmark under the same conditions at 5600 and 5200, there is almost no change in the game frame, and the temperature change is maintained at a low level of 28 ~ 30 degrees, so you can see how well the temperature is managed even during high-performance games.

Because it is a product released by Micron, it operates stably even when applying Intel XMP 3.0, and the operating clock of the memory itself is stably profiled, so it is convenient to use the desired clock with just a few clicks. The basic operating clock is not high, so the performance is definitely lower than RAM with 6,000MHz or higher, but it supports both INTEL and AMD profiles, making it more scalable than other memories that only support specific profiles.

It is light and has an impressive compact design despite having a heatsink, and it can be operated stably in both systems. Above all, it optimizes power efficiency, so even though the performance is high, the power consumption is low, making it sufficient for high-performance system memory. It is recommended for users who use the latest CPUs that support DDR5 memory and want to freely use both profiles.
