Global One-Build MMORPG, ROM: Remember Of Majesty

 

RedLab Games' Rom: Remember of Majesty (hereinafter Rom), co-serviced by Kakao Games, will be officially released on February 27th.

 

Rom is a MMORPG that supports mobile and PC multi-platforms, and the developer has stated that it aims for a traditional hardcore MMORPG where you can feel the memories and nostalgia of old online games. Rom will provide simultaneous global service to deliver this fun globally. It also supports global users through various communication devices, including real-time translation.

 

Shin Hyun-geun, CEO of RedLab Games, who is in charge of the development and service of Rom, said, "Rom is a game that is being developed with the goal of restoring the game sensibility that remains in old memories, although it is a bit rough." He added, "This method is a bit new and unfamiliar, but we have prepared with all our efforts, so please give us your cold criticism and warm encouragement."

 

 

Rom is a game targeting users in their 30s to 50s. Accordingly, it was developed based on a collision-based quarter-view system to provide a simple and light game environment. At the same time, since global users must all enjoy it, we focused on optimizing low-end devices and implemented a one-build integrated service without global regional boundaries.

 

As a hardcore MMORPG, free PK is also a feature of Rom. However, in order to reliably deliver rewards and compensation, we have prepared a wide range of free PK areas, as well as a wanted and prison system, and a guild protection guard system that will be introduced at the same time as the official release. A war system will also be introduced in the future. Territory wars and castle sieges, which are large-scale battles in which global users participate simultaneously, and monarch wars based on cross-worlds are planned.

 

Rom conducted a beta test from January 23rd to 25th, and will be released globally on February 27th after refining the game based on user feedback obtained during the beta test period.

 

 

Three Classes, Characters Growing with Stat Increases

 

 

There are three main character classes: Knight, Ranger, and Magician. Each class has a different main weapon and class-specific skills. Because of this, the combat method is divided into melee and ranged, and the role in party hunting is also different.

 

The Knight is a typical warrior class that uses a sword as its main weapon, and engages in melee combat based on strong stamina. The Ranger is an archer class that uses a bow as its main weapon, and is a ranged dealer specializing in agility who attacks enemies from a distance.

 

The final Magician mainly uses magic using a staff. At the same time, they can also serve as a supporter, such as restoring party members' health or removing debuffs. All three classes can use spears and daggers as sub-weapons.

In the case of Rom, stat points are provided according to character level up, perhaps to revive the nostalgia of the past. Players can assign the points acquired in this way to Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Stamina, and Wisdom stats. Since the abilities enhanced by each stat are different, it is necessary to make appropriate choices according to your class.

 

Skills, another character growth system other than stats, are acquired and strengthened using skill books. Skill books can basically be obtained through monster drops, skill book stores, or trading. The success rate varies depending on the enhancement level. Skills are divided into passive, active, and buff skills. You can set the skill use timer during auto-battle, so you can adjust the skill order to suit your situation.

 

 

Equipment Farming and Enhancement System

Rom has two elements prepared for character leveling and equipment farming: field hunting and dungeons. Field hunting involves moving to a place on the map that matches your level and engaging in combat, and dungeons all have different levels, acquired items, etc., so you can play according to the specific materials you need.

 

In field hunting, you can acquire general items such as equipment items, in-game currency, monster tablets, and consumable items. You can also obtain general equipment boxes at a certain probability, and you can acquire hero-grade equipment with a certain probability. General equipment boxes can also be crafted using fragments obtained by disassembling equipment.

 

The acquired equipment can be made stronger through enhancement and refinement. First of all, in the case of enhancement, it can be done using scrolls. Up to 7 enhancements is a safe zone, and after that, the equipment is destroyed if it fails. Enhancement can be done up to a maximum of 15 enhancements. Equipment enhanced in this way can be registered in the encyclopedia if it is no longer needed.

Refinement is a system that grants additional abilities to equipment. It can be done using refinement stones, and some of the additional ability lists are randomly determined. Refinement stones can be obtained through crafting or field hunting.

 

At the time of the test, only equipment that could be obtained through field or dungeon hunting and crafting was open, but patterns and Arwen accessories are expected to be added in the future. The acquisition locations of these equipment have not been confirmed.

The gacha content that could be checked during the beta is three types: costumes, guardians, and monster tablets. In the case of costumes and pets, the grade is determined, and additional abilities are provided depending on the collection status as well as their own abilities. However, the resources used for each gacha can be confirmed after the official opening.

 

Equipment item encyclopedia also exists. Not only basic 0-enhanced equipment, but also equipment with safe enhancement levels of 7 enhancements, and equipment with enhancement levels that may be destroyed afterwards can be collected in the encyclopedia. Through encyclopedia registration, you can acquire additional abilities depending on the activation status.

Rom provides various systems to implement a high degree of freedom economy, which is one of the fun of classic RPGs. The most central thing is the trading system. There are parcels that allow user-to-user trading, a server exchange with a 3% fee, and a world exchange that all servers use together.

 

In the case of the world exchange, it was not opened during the test period, but it is a system to equalize prices by server and prevent the decline in user item value.

 

There is also a sealing system that allows you to trade key items. You can seal and trade key growth elements such as costumes, guardians, and monster tablets. A sealing stone item is required for trading after sealing. Sealed items can be sold through parcels and exchanges.

Hardcore PK System and Guild System

 

 

As it aims for a hardcore MMORPG, Rom will introduce a powerful PK system and guild system. As soon as you leave the early tutorial area, a field area where free PK is possible unfolds.

 

However, some protection measures are also prepared for users who enjoy solo play or do not like PK. These are the wanted and prison system, and the guild guard system. In the case of the wanted system, it is a system that requests revenge from a stronger user, and the user who receives the request can acquire a success reward upon successful revenge.

 

Prison is content to prevent users from doing indiscriminate PK. If you continue to do indiscriminate PK, a slaughterer buff will be applied and you will be moved to prison. In prison, return and map movement are not possible. You can escape from prison when the slaughterer buff disappears after a certain amount of time. Guild Guard is a system where solo players can pay a certain fee and receive protection from other guilds.

 

Guilds will play a very diverse role in Rom. You can experience guild research institutes where all guild members can become stronger together, guild quests where you can capture and earn rewards with guild members, and alliances and unions between guilds. Territory wars to be held in the future can also be played through guilds.

Additional Content at Launch

 

In the official release on the 27th, more diverse systems related to stores, missions, guilds, and dungeons will be added. In the store, products that can be purchased with paid currency, diamonds, and in-game currency, gold and crystals, are sold. In the case of missions, it is a system where you can perform missions through game play and acquire rewards. No separate paid missions are included.

 

Many systems related to guilds are also added. You can see the guard system where solo players can pay a certain fee to the guild and receive protection, as well as the castle siege tax system and the territory war UI. Official castle sieges and territory wars will be opened in the future, but you can check various information about castle sieges and territory wars in advance.

 

In addition, safe area dungeons and anonymous dungeons are added, so you can experience dungeon play that suits your play style. Anonymous dungeons are PK areas where character names are hidden, and you can enjoy hunting and fierce player-to-player battles at the same time. On the other hand, safe dungeons are dungeons for users who want to focus only on hunting.

 

In addition, various feedback and bugs received through beta testing will be corrected and applied. Rom plans to explain the related matters in more detail through the 3rd PD briefing on the official cafe.
