Monster Hunter: World, released in 2018, has sold 25 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling single game title ever released by Capcom.
Capcom announced today (12th) that 'Monster Hunter: World' has achieved global sales of 25 million copies. This figure combines sales of the main game released in 2018 and the 'Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition', which bundles the main game with the expansion content 'Iceborne'.
The Monster Hunter series, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, has reached cumulative sales of 97 million units as of December 2023. Monster Hunter: World accounts for about a quarter of the total sales of the Monster Hunter series.
Capcom said, "We have been promoting continuous digital sales for about 6 years since the release of Monster Hunter: World, and as a result, we have achieved a record high of 25 million copies." and added, "We will continue to exert our excellent game development capabilities to create unique game titles and meet the expectations of our users."
Meanwhile, Capcom announced the latest installment in the series, 'Monster Hunter Wilds', in December 2023. Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to depict more realistic wildlife by focusing on weather and environmental changes. Following the success of Monster Hunter: World, the new title 'Monster Hunter Wilds' will be released in 2025 on PC, PS5, and XSX|S platforms.
