Jo Il-jang and Kim Min-chul face off for the ASL Season 17 championship
SOOP will host the finals of the 'AfreecaTV StarCraft League Season 17' (hereinafter ASL Season 17), an esports league held with Blizzard Entertainment's science fiction RTS game 'StarCraft: Remastered' on the 27th.
The finals, which will be held from 5 PM on the 27th, will feature a match between Jo Il-jang (Z) and Kim Min-chul (Z). Jo Il-jang is aiming for his first ASL championship and the record of being the fifth Zerg champion, while Kim Min-chul is aiming for his second consecutive championship following last season. In particular, the ASL Season 17 finals will be a Zerg vs. Zerg match, and both players have shown outstanding performance throughout this season, so a battle of builds and fierce small-scale engagements are expected.
The first player to advance to the finals is Jo Il-jang, who defeated Jo Ki-seok (T) 4-1 in the first semi-final match held on the 15th (Mon). Jo Il-jang, who overcame a series of matches against Terran against Yoo Young-jin (T) in the quarterfinals, also showed an overwhelming game against Jo Ki-seok and returned to the ASL finals for the first time in 13 seasons.
Kim Min-chul, who will face Jo Il-jang, advanced to the finals by defeating Jang Yun-chul 4:2 in the second semi-final match held on the 16th (Tue). Kim Min-chul, who achieved a reverse sweep of 'lose-lose-win-win-win' against Byun Hyun-je, his opponent in last season's finals, secured 4 consecutive points in the semi-final match against Jang Yun-chul through excellent late-game concentration and sharp builds, securing his place in the finals.
This ASL Season 17 finals will be held offline with a live audience at the 'Vita500 Colosseum' located in Jamsil, Seoul. On-site viewing tickets can be purchased online on a first-come, first-served basis until 6 PM on the day of the match.
