LCK's popularity soars in Vietnam, fans get to meet popular players in person
LCK players such as 'Deft' Kim Hyuk-kyu, 'ShowMaker' Heo Su, and 'Morgan' Park Ru-han will participate in the '2024 Korea Travel Festa' held in Hanoi, Vietnam from the 24th to the 26th of next month.
The 2024 Korea Travel Festa is an event hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Tourism Organization to promote Korean tourism in Vietnam.
The LCK stated that the LCK is a regional league that has won the League of Legends World Championship, the most prestigious tournament, eight times, and has proven itself to be a global premium content with worldwide popularity, conveying the significance of participating in this event. In particular, Vietnam is the third most-watched region for the LCK, which is broadcast live in six languages around the world. The 2024 LCK Spring Finals, which recently ended, recorded a peak concurrent viewership of 560,000 in Vietnam alone.
To repay the support of Vietnamese fans, the LCK participated in the Korean Tourism Promotion Hall at the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Expo in 2023, and this year will participate in the Korea Travel Festa. KT Rolster's 'Deft' Kim Hyuk-kyu and 'Beryl' Jo Geon-hee, Dplus KIA's 'ShowMaker' Heo Su and 'Lucid' Choi Yong-hyuk, and OK Savings Bank Brion's 'Morgan' Park Ru-han will represent the LCK and meet Vietnamese fans.
The LCK will set up a promotional booth at this event to meet local Vietnamese fans in person. The players participating in the event as representatives of the LCK will hold media conferences, Korean tourism talk shows, event matches with Vietnamese influencers, fan meetings, and autograph sessions to promote the LCK and Korean tourism.
Esports, represented by the LCK, was the theme of the first part of the media conference, one of the core events of the Korea Travel Festa, and K-pop was covered in the second part. In the first part, LCK Secretary General Lee Jeong-hoon and LCK representative players will be speakers to introduce the LCK and answer questions about the LCK in the local area, and will deliver a message inviting Vietnamese fans to visit Korea.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Secretary General of the LCK, said, "Vietnamese fans are showing tremendous affection for the LCK as viewership indicators in Vietnam are increasing dramatically every year." "We will use this roadshow as an opportunity to repay the love that Vietnamese fans have shown to the LCK and to promote the LCK and Korean tourism to more local fans."
The Korea Tourism Organization said, "This LCK invitation was planned to expand the scope of Hallyu tourism marketing, which was previously limited to K-pop and K-dramas, and to create new demand for visits to Korea." "The Korean esports market is at a world-class level, and we will work to ensure that the high level of awareness in Vietnam can be linked to actual visits to Korea."
