The War Within: Echoes of Radiance Event Overview
In the new expansion pre-event, fight against the Memories of Azeroth and collect Lingering Memories to purchase new items to add to your Warband collection.
Time:July 30 - August 26
Location:Dalaran (Crater), Dragonblight, Dustwallow Marsh, Searing Gorge
Currency:Lingering Memories - These iridescent motes allow you to glimpse forgotten memories within the Light.
Players who do not own The War Within can also participate in this event.
Confronting the Memories
Players who have reached level 70 will receive a quest to head to Dalaran.
The event proceeds in 4 phases, rotating through 3 different zones. You can head straight to the event preparation area through the portal in Dalaran. Each event area also has a return portal, allowing you to quickly return to Dalaran and move to the next event area. When an event is active in a zone, the portal will glow gold, indicating that the event is in progress.
- In the first week of the event, zones will switch every 90 minutes.
- In the second week of the event, zones will switch every 60 minutes.
- In weeks 3 and 4 of the event, zones will switch every 30 minutes.
Phase 1
In phase 1 of the event, you must defeat Condensed Memories and other memories that appear in the zone.
Phase 2
You must defeat the Radiant Echoes rampaging in the area. 6 random events will be activated within the area. You can check the map (default shortcut: M) to see them. Event areas are marked with multi-colored orbs as the phase progresses.
Phase 3
During the event, you can receive quests to defeat event bosses in each area.
- The Only Darkness: Defeat the Lich King in the Memory (Dragonblight)
- Shattered Masquerade: Defeat Onyxia in the Memory (Dustwallow Marsh)
- Champion of the Water Lord: Defeat Ragnaros in the Memory (Searing Gorge)
Once players defeat the boss, phase 4 will begin. Please note that you will not be able to defeat the boss required to complete the quest until the event restarts in the area.
Phase 4
When you reach phase 4, the Radiant Echoes subside. Players can return to Dalaran or defeat the remaining memories in the area to collect Lingering Memories. A timer will start in the area where Lingering Memories remain, and when the timer expires, the next area event will begin. At this time, players must return to Dalaran and move through the portal to the area where the next event is active.
Rewards
Players can collect Lingering Memories to purchase items from various vendors in each area. You can check how many Lingering Memories you have collected so far in the Currency section of the War Within dropdown menu in your character information (default shortcut: C).

- Dragonblight: Echo of the Silver Hand in Wyrmrest Temple
- Dustwallow Marsh: Forgotten Hero in Theramore Isle
- Searing Gorge: Duke's Memory in Blackrock Mountain
Purchasing the Depleted Stone Band allows you to create the Heirloom Ring, Band of the Radiant Echo (Item Level 227), by collecting memories from each area and then combining and infusing the essences.
