Pearl Abyss' PD Jaehee Kim personally introduced 'Black Desert' to Chinese media during ChinaJoy 2024.
'Black Desert' will be serviced in China through Tencent. A demo event was held for general users at this ChinaJoy. PD Jaehee Kim introduced the game to local reporters and answered questions through a separate press conference.
It is reported that Pearl Abyss CEO Jin-young Heo and PD Jaehee Kim also visited the B2C hall to observe the reactions of users on-site. This move is interpreted as Pearl Abyss considering the Chinese market to be very important.
At 'ChinaJoy 2024', Pearl Abyss showcased 'Black Desert' through Tencent Games. On-site users were able to play various popular classes such as Dark Knight, Maehwa, and Ninja. All trial characters were equipped with Blackstar gear and a Dream Horse.
Black Desert has been serviced in over 150 countries including Korea, Japan, North America, Europe, and Taiwan since its release in 2014. China, the world's second-largest game market, is the only one remaining. If Pearl Abyss succeeds with the 'Black Desert' service in China, they can expect a cash cow like Nexon's 'Dungeon&Fighter', Smilegate's 'Crossfire', and Krafton's 'PUBG'.
The publishing license required for the Chinese service was obtained last June. Pearl Abyss is smoothly conducting local testing with Tencent.
An official from Pearl Abyss said, "Our goal is to provide Black Desert adventurers with the same experience anywhere in the world," and added, "We will work with Tencent to prepare to provide the latest version quickly, depending on the growth rate and server conditions of Chinese adventurers."
