The history of 135 years in one place, 'Nintendo Museum' opens October 2nd
Nintendo will open the 'Nintendo Museum' on October 2nd, housing 135 years of history since its founding in 1889.
The Nintendo Museum is located on the site of the old Nintendo factory in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan (Address: 56 Kaguraden, Ogura-cho, Uji-shi, Kyoto 611-0042). In the past, Nintendo made its first product, Hanafuda (playing cards), at this factory.
The museum is largely divided into an interactive exhibition hall and a historical game console exhibition. Visitors can play Nintendo games directly or experience content that modernly interprets past works. The device exhibition allows visitors to see the evolution of console devices and controllers in one place, starting with the past Hanafuda. The Famicom is on display in various overseas versions, including the Japanese version.
Nintendo has also brought together the beginnings and present-day appearances of monumental games such as Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Visitors can see the evolution of graphics and games at a glance. In addition, visitors can also see copiers, strollers, toys, and pachinko machines made by Nintendo at the museum.
Shigeru Miyamoto emphasized, "The Nintendo Museum is not just a place to display products, but a place where you can experience the philosophy behind them."
To visit the Nintendo Museum, you need to make a reservation and check information through the official website. It is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is closed every Tuesday. The price is 3,300 yen (approximately ₩29,967) for adults, 2,200 yen (approximately ₩19,978) for teenagers, and 1,100 yen (₩9,982) for children. The website supports Japanese and English, but not Korean.
