PSG Talon wins 2:1 against Brazilian team paiN Gaming

The 2nd match of Day 1 of the 2024 LoL World Championship Play-In Stage, held at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany on the 25th, was between PSG Talon from the PCS and paiN Gaming from the CBLOL. As a result, PSG Talon defeated paiN Gaming 2:1 and advanced to Round 2.

In Set 1, paiN Gaming showed a good start by catching 'JunJia's Skarner in the Rift Herald fight. They also caught 'Wudy's Rell near the dragon with clean CC chaining and stacked up to 2 dragons. PSG Talon was ahead in basic macro, leading slightly in gold, but paiN Gaming made 3 dragon stacks before 20 minutes.

The next dragon timing was very important, and paiN Gaming succeeded in scoring big by taking the dragon soul and retreating cleanly. Then, paiN Gaming cut off the opponent during a mid-lane standoff and won the subsequent Baron fight, and with the Baron buff, they began to put on pressure in earnest, creating an upset by winning Set 1.

In the following Set 2, PSG Talon was not easily defeated. PSG Talon scored 2 kills with a complete victory in the top 2:2 skirmish. As PSG Talon succeeded in scoring first, they continued the good atmosphere, and PSG Talon continued to widen the gap in power in Rift Herald and dragon fights.

PSG Talon, who earned 6,000 global gold in 18 minutes, gradually began to block the opponent's vision, and the gold difference widened to 10,000 in 24 minutes of game time. paiN Gaming boldly opened a fight first to overcome the unfavorable situation, but the difference in power was already too great, so PSG Talon easily defeated the opponent and succeeded in tying the score 1:1.

In the final Set 3, paiN Gaming's Lee Sin attempted a bottom gank and caught 'Betty's Jhin. However, there was an unfortunate scene where Lee Sin was caught while chasing further. And in the mid lane, 'Maple's Akali and 'JunJia's Wukong caught Syndra.

In an unfavorable situation, paiN Gaming cut off Wukong at the bottom to break the opponent's momentum, and even caught 'Azi's Vayne at the top to make up for previous losses. In a situation where the power was almost equal, paiN Gaming aimed for the dragon. PSG Talon used Akali's teleport to the back, making it difficult for the opponent to respond, driving them away and succeeding in hunting Baron.

paiN Gaming, who gave up Baron to the opponent, had 3 dragon stacks, so the best way was to hold out as much as possible and stall for time. And just before the next dragon appeared, they seized an opportunity by cutting off Akali at the bottom. However, PSG Talon won even this fight, taking the dragon and destroying the opponent's Nexus as it was, winning 2:1.
