Azeroth Exploration: Islands and Isles - Lor'themar and Thalyssra, News from Old Zones, and More

With the recent release of the final book in WoW's Exploring Azeroth series, Exploring Azeroth: Islands and Shores, we got to join Lor'themar and Thalyssra on their honeymoon and discover new stories from various islands within Azeroth!

■ Lor'themar and Thalyssra's Honeymoon

Throughout the book, players can follow the story of Lor'themar and Thalyssra, who are looking for a honeymoon destination after their recent wedding. Set after the Dragonflight expansion, the reader first travels with Thalyssra to the Broken Isles, and then Lor'themar joins her on this journey. In this process, Thalyssra seeks a place to create entirely new memories for herself and her husband, rather than dwelling on painful old ones, and recalls that even though the Broken Isles, including Suramar, have undergone many changes, she feels too tied to her duties.

Meanwhile, while traveling through the Broken Isles, we also see Lor'themar slowly experiencing areas he has never visited before, clashing with Thalyssra, who is running out of patience. As both tend to focus on work rather than truly relaxing, the newlyweds decide to temporarily separate and explore other islands to prevent this from escalating into a larger argument.

Thalyssra heads to Zandalar to meet Queen Talanji, and also visits Nazjatar to shake off the whispers she keeps hearing while enjoying her trip and to resist the urge to return to work. Meanwhile, Lor'themar visits Kul Tiras in a more official capacity due to his position as a leader of the Horde, and eventually, missing each other, the two reunite on the Dragon Isles, exploring the Dragon Isles with Wrathion, who welcomes them as diplomats.

While traveling underground to Aberrus with Wrathion, the couple realizes the value of spending time together and that being together is more important than the location. Ultimately, the journey to find the right honeymoon destination was their honeymoon in itself, and after stopping at the Gardens of Unity in Thaldraszus, they conclude their honeymoon.

... Until the Song of Eagerness hinting at the upcoming The War Within expansion is heard. Eventually, Lor'themar and Thalyssra decide to return to their homelands as leaders of the Blood Elves and Nightborne, but reflect on the importance of loving each other even when apart. The book concludes with a mention of Tel'Abim, along with a suggestion to plan a second honeymoon later.

Meanwhile, in addition to the story of Lor'themar and Thalyssra's honeymoon, the new book also reveals what has happened to the islands and archipelagos within Azeroth that have been introduced so far since their respective expansions:

■ The Broken Isles

- The Nightborne have all consumed the fruit of the Arcan'dor and are freed from their addiction to the Nightwell, eliminating the threat of turning into Withered.

- After the Suramar quests, the city's menagerie no longer forcibly suppresses beasts using arcane magic, instead allowing animals like Suesh to roam freely.

- No more warlocks can be found in Suramar after the Legion invasion.

- The boundaries of Suramar city are expanding beyond the old shield, especially thanks to the young Nightborne.

- The Withered are also being rescued from the ruins and slowly undergoing rehabilitation.

- The Moon Guard is also being rebuilt, and the new Moon Guard, including Farodin, the Valleywalker, who has settled in Shal'Aran, includes not only Nightborne but also Night Elf druids from the nearby Iron Grove Enclave.

- The ghost of Farondis is working with the Nightborne to find a way to lift the undead curse.

- Azurewing Repose is now one of the destinations for the Blue Dragonflight, with many whelps visiting with their parents.

- Narthalas Academy has reopened, accepting not only ghosts of the past but also living students.

- As there are no more naga in the Eye of Azshara, it has become a typical beach full of murlocs and animals.

- The Vault of the Wardens is operating normally again, and the escaped prisoners have been re-imprisoned by the Wardens.

- Druids and shamans are working hard to bring life back to the Broken Shore, and new life is sprouting again on the beach that was once filled with Hellfire scars.

- Deliverance Point now simply functions as a base for the Kirin Tor.

- The Tomb of Sargeras is no longer the headquarters of fel magic, but deep corruption still lingers within the building.

- The echo of Guardian Aegwynn continues to remain inside the tomb, guarding the ancient building with the Wardens.

- In Val'sharah, the Nightmare has been completely cleansed, but Shaladrassil still remains as nothing more than dead bark.

- Bradensbrook has become a complete village, and trade is also taking place with nearby Night Elves.

- Black Rook Hold has become an empty castle with no more ghosts.

- Highmountain's Riverbend has been completely rebuilt by the Rivermane tribe.

- With Sigryn established as the queen of the Tideskorn, the Vrykul of Stormheim are no longer hostile to outsiders.

- Helya's influence, which remained in areas such as Haustvald, has been cleansed, and the undead have returned to their graves.

- Most of the Storm Drakes have left Stormheim for the Dragon Isles, but some are still with the Vrykul as equal partners, no longer servants.

- The incident between Vyranoth and Odyn is a secret that is spreading among the Vrykul, and it is also the motive for their friendly relationship with the Storm Drakes.

■ Zandalar

- The Great Seal no longer functions as a Horde embassy, but the portals remain.

- The chronicles of Zul, the story of Yazma's betrayal of Rezan, and the symbol of Rezan can now be found in the Court of the Chosen.

- The Parakki and Amani districts of Dazar'alor have become much more peaceful, and trolls from both tribes have begun to visit the city more often.

- The corruption of Atal'Dazar has also been cleansed, but as many priests have died, wildlife has taken their place.

- The Temple of Rezan has been transformed into a memorial site honoring Rezan and Rastakhan.

- The Temple of the Prophet has been demolished and replaced with a Pandaren-style plant nursery, and the Sisters' Garden, newly built with stones from the old temple, exists in the Valley of the Four Winds.

- The Gurubashi tribe has retaken Zul'Gurub and no longer harasses the residents of Dazar'alor.

- The devoted Sethrak have reclaimed the Temple of Sethraliss, but due to its notoriety, visitors other than the Vulpera rarely come.

- Many Sethrak have begun to worship the loa Akunda to forget the pain of the civil war.

- The Tortaka tribe continues to follow the loa Kimbul, and Zandalari trolls and Sethrak have also begun to join.

- The abandoned dens of Vol'dun and the Vulpera Hideaway have been transformed into more proper Vulpera settlements.

- The Zandalari trolls who were exiled by General Jakra'zet have returned to the Zandalari tribe by Talanji.

- The abandoned Outcast's Overlook is now mostly occupied by Vulpera who want to establish a trading post with the Sethrak.

- No more undead pirates can be found in Zem'lan's Lost Post, and the port is instead operating as a market full of various goods.

- Atul'Aman is now completely abandoned, and young Vulpera often visit this place for their coming-of-age ceremony.

- No traces of blood trolls can be found in Nazmir anymore.

- The Necropolis is once again under Bwonsamdi's control.

- Torga's remains have been properly buried, and his resting place has become a pilgrimage site to meet the reborn little Torga.

- Krag'wa's children can be met again, and his temple is also being rebuilt.

- Only the undead roam the blood troll settlements around Uldir.

■ Kul Tiras

- Tol Dagor is now controlled by the Proudmoore family, not the Ashvane family.

- Factories such as the Ashvane Iron Works near Daelin's Gate have been handed over to local residents and are operated by workers' groups. With no more major wars, these factories are producing products such as cookware and fireworks instead of weapons.

- The Proudmoore Admiralty has accepted many new cadets to replace the soldiers lost in the Fourth War.

- Boralus has been rebuilt from the attack by Lady Ashvane and the Horde during Battle for Azeroth.

- Ashvane's flags have disappeared from Fort Proudmoore, but traces of them can still be found in metalwork.

- After the Fourth War, the Proudmoore family purged all the tide sages corrupted by the Old Gods, but despite the absence of dark magic, Stormsong Monastery still retains its eeriness.

- Daelin's Gate, which was destroyed by Ashvane and Azerite weapons, has been restored to normal.

- Kul Tirans have returned to live in Corlain in Drustvar, but the surrounding areas are permanently tainted by death magic, like the Death Scar in Quel'Thalas.

- The Heartsbane Triad has been completely driven out of Drustvar, and no more witches or their curses can be found, except for the cursed animals.

- The Waycrest Manor has been completely renovated thanks to the efforts of the Ember Court to cleanse the Triad's magic.

- Brennadam, which was almost destroyed during the Fourth War, has been rebuilt, but perhaps unsurprisingly, it still does not welcome Horde visitors.

- People have started living again in the Sagehold, where the influence of the Old Gods has been completely cleansed.

- The Warfang Hold is now empty, with only empty buildings remaining, as everyone has withdrawn under the orders of Baine Bloodhoof and the Horde Council.

- The muddy land near Mudfisher Cove has now become lush farmland, and the abandoned ships are being dismantled by farmers for use elsewhere.

- The influence of the Old Gods has been completely cleansed from the Shrine of the Storm, and uncorrupted tide sages are guarding the temple.

- Altars of the Old Gods, such as the Stormwall Blockade, still exist, but are mostly abandoned.

■ Dragon Isles

- The Obsidian Citadel, guarded by the Black Dragonflight, is being rebuilt from the Zaqali attacks.

- The Qalashi tribe has reclaimed and restored the Qalashi Wastes, and the undead spirits of the Tira'kai have also found peace again.

- Neither Lor'themar nor Thalyssra have visited Amirdrassil since it bloomed.

- The garden inside the Azure Archives has now become a memorial space for Malygos and Sindragosa.

- The Kirin Tor camp in the Azure Span has been dismantled, and scholars are now working directly with the Blue Dragonflight in places like Vakthros.

- The Cobalt Assembly is now fully owned by the Dragonscale Expedition and functions as a training ground for Dragonscale Expedition.

- The Dragonscale Expedition continues to explore the Forbidden Reach for artifacts and cooperate with the Dracthyr by sealing off dangerous areas.

- The remains of the Oathbinder, used by Neltharion, have been enshrined in Nel Ks'kol within Zaralek Cavern.

- Whispers of the Void can still be heard deep within Aberrus, but they no longer have as much influence on Wrathion and the Black Dragonflight as before.

- The Shadowflame in areas such as Neltharion's Gaze has been completely cleansed, leaving only ordinary lava pools.

- The Zaqali still attack Aberrus with a small number of remaining forces.

- The Vault of the Incarnates has been restored to its function, but the Aspects are now planning to completely destroy Iridikron instead of imprisoning him again.

- The Algeth'ar Academy has begun accepting students from all over Azeroth, including activities such as Galakrass, and like dungeons, students choose a Dragonflight to pledge their allegiance to.

- The malfunctioning Guardians of Tyrhold are now functioning properly, and the temple and its underground Infusion Chambers have become quiet again.

- A new Black Dragonflight area made of elaborate rock carvings has been added to the Gardens of Unity in Thaldraszus.

■ Other Regions

- The Tidestone, which was placed in the Tomb of Sargeras, was moved back to Dalaran just before The War Within, but its whereabouts are currently unknown.

- Now that the Tidestone has returned to Dalaran, Nazjatar has been submerged again.

- With Azshara gone, the naga of Nazjatar have split and are causing civil war.

- Rustbolt in Mechagon has become a proper coastal trading port and is easily accessible from mainland Kul Tiras.

- No more goblins like Gazlowe's Mechgineers can be found in Mechagon, but unlike Kul Tiras, the Mechagnomes remain friendly to the Horde.

- The Waste Processing Plant has officially become the entrance to Mechagon City, but it is still a mess.

- The Mechagnomes are now offering mechanization to the gnomes of Gnomeregan who want it.
