AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, has been officially selected as 'CEO of the Year' by TIME Magazine.

 

Dr. Lisa Su took office as CEO in 2014 and is celebrating her 10th anniversary this year, the 55th anniversary of AMD's founding.

 

TIME Magazine's CEO of the Year selection reflects an assessment of leaders who have had a significant impact on the industry and the world in 2024. Dr. Lisa Su was selected based on her leadership and AMD's industry contributions to advancing the future of AI through end-to-end AI infrastructure, solutions, and an open ecosystem.

 

 

Below are the major achievements of Dr. Lisa Su as CEO of AMD.

 

- AMD's corporate market capitalization has increased from $2 billion to over $200 billion in 10 years, making it one of the most valuable companies in the world.

- Lisa Su strategically shifted the business to data centers, enterprise solutions, and ultimately the embedded market, which significantly grew AMD EPYC processor's server revenue share from around 1% to approximately 34%.

- AMD products currently power 50% of the world's fastest top 10 supercomputers and 40% of the most energy-efficient top 10 supercomputers.

- Multiple corporate acquisitions have been made to diversify and strengthen the AMD portfolio, including Silo AI (Europe's largest AI research institute), ZT Systems (an AI infrastructure provider for hyperscalers, expected to be completed in the first half of 2025), Pensando (a data center networking company), and Xilinx (an adaptive computing company that recorded the largest semiconductor transaction in history).

- R&D investment has increased fivefold from $1 billion in 2014 to $5.9 billion in 2023, and the AMD AI ecosystem has expanded and AI software capabilities have been strengthened with investments of over $1 billion in the past 12 months.

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Lisa Su was born in Taiwan and raised in the United States. After earning three degrees, including a doctorate from MIT, she spent 13 years in various engineering and leadership roles at IBM before joining AMD in 2012. Dr. Lisa Su is recognized as a pioneer in innovative chip design and the semiconductor industry.
