Hello, this is Asphilla, creator of asMOD.
With the 11.0.7 patch, Blizzard has released a new API that shows the CPU usage of addons. I've created an addon using this and would like to introduce it. I hope that through this addon, you can identify/remove addons/WeakAuras that consume a lot of CPU resources during combat and enjoy the game in a more pleasant environment.
You can download the addon from CurseForge.
After installing the addon, you will see a window like the one below.
This addon displays the CPU usage of addons in order from the most recent combat start to the addon that is expected to have had the most impact on frame rate reduction.
From the left:
Addon Name :Addon Name
PeakTime :The longest time the addon occupied the CPU --> It would be good if it is low, but parts that occurred during non-combat are acceptable.
BossAvg :Average CPU usage of the addon during boss fights --> Even if the average is high, if the occupation time is low, it will not have a significant impact on the game frame rate.
This is important from now on.
Over1ms :Number of times CPU resources were occupied for more than 1ms --> It's good if it's low, and 1ms doesn't have a big impact on FPS.
5ms, 10ms :Number of times CPU resources were occupied for more than 5ms/10ms --> You may not feel it much up to 5/10ms.
50ms/100ms :Addons/WeakAuras that take up more than this start to give the feeling that the game screen is lagging.
OverSum : The sum is calculated with a weight from 1ms to 100ms, and the addons are sorted in order of the largest sum.
Tip) In the case of WeakAuras, you have to try combat while turning on the WeakAuras you are using one by one. This is unavoidable because WeakAuras is one addon.
Tip) You can close the window. After combat, reopen the window with the /asCPU command and check the results of the last combat.
Below is a part I checked in the follower dungeon.
This is a screenshot just before the end of the battle again. The party frame addon, asCompactRaidBuff, consumes the most CPU resources, and asOverlay has a long CPU occupation time compared to its function. I need to look at the code. However, overall, the conclusion is that there is no impact on the game frame due to the addon within 5ms.
If you are worried about game frame rate reduction/lag during raids, install asCPUProfile and try running LFR once. If there is an addon that occupies more than 50ms/100ms during combat, that addon is likely to be the cause of the lag.
If you optimize the addons well, WoW is a game where you can raid at 60 frames with 4K 10 options even on a CPU 7600X and GPU 6750XT. If you are considering purchasing a PC because of game stuttering, check the addons. If the addon impact is significant, the lag is likely to be severe even if you upgrade your PC.
