(Additional) The War Within Season 1: Depths raid guide

Hello, from the Azshara serverDevastation EvokerI'm playing학원팟훈수대마왕(aka 여러분의힐링캠프)I started playing Devastation at the request of my raid team, so my playtime isn't very long. However, many people have been asking questions about Devastation on the class forums and in-game, so I'm belatedly writing a simple guide despite my lack of skill. Most of this guide is based on my own subjective experiences and know-how gained while playing Devastation Evoker in The War Within, and I would like to state in advance that it may not be the correct answer. Also, the guide is written based on Mythic raid difficulty.

1. Stats

Crit > Haste > Mastery > Versatility

Set up your gear in that order. One of the most frequently asked questions is, 'If Crit is the most valuable stat, is it beneficial to get as much Crit as possible?' This is a point of contention even among top overseas loggers. And with this patch, one ring is fixed, so it's harder to get as much Crit as before.

Imaintain Haste around 10000~11000and invest the rest intoCrit (wearing Kirke's ring, around 16000)I avoid Versatility as much as possible, and naturally acquire around 6~8000 Mastery from trinkets and tier pieces, etc.

2. Gear

Head - Tier or Horn of the Last Course (1st boss) or Mythic+ weekly reward

Neck -Brooch of Fractured Memoriesor Sorek's Cache

Shoulder - Tier

Cloak - Wings of Fragmented Grief

Chest - Tier

Wrist - Crafted recommended (Looming Armguards of the Undulating Spire)

Hands - Tier

Waist -Tier Conversion(Crit/Haste) or High-Velocity Ascendancy Cord (Obernox)

Legs -Tieror Legplates of Liquified Defiance (Anduroth)

Feet - Rhashan's Putrid Talons (Rhashan)

Ring1 - Kirke (Stormcaller, Deepdweller, Legendary Captain)

Ring2 - Signet of Toxic Tenancy (Anduroth) or Crafted (Crit/Haste)

Trinket1 - Spymaster's Web

Trinket2 - Darkstorm or Unfettered Devolution or Anub'ikhan's Static Clasp or Arakara Hatchling Cocoon

Weapon - Craft one of Two-Handed, One-Handed, Off-Hand (Darkmoon Deck Ascension)

For the head tier, the stats are Versatility/Mastery, so you can wear something else.

There were cases where people wore Sorek's Cache for the neck, but in this case, you need to wear the Signet of Toxic Tenancy ring to get enough Crit. Also, after the release of Kirke's Crest, it's hard to get Crit, so it's easier to match stats by wearing the Brooch of Fractured Memories.

The rare cloak is not essential. You can wear something else or craft it.

The Signet of Toxic Tenancy ring is similar to or slightly worse than the crafted ring (636) up to the Heroic version (626). If you don't have the Mythic version, feel free to craft it.

For one trinket, equip Spymaster's Web as a fixed item, and for the empty slot, use the one you acquire first or the one that comes out of the vault reward from the 4 trinkets presented above and fully upgrade it.

Q. Don't you use Candlefriend or Bizarrely Warm Rock?

A. Candlefriend showed lottery-like power in single-target bosses such as Siculus and Kaybeezie, but its power has diminished now that the early season lacked Intelligence and secondary stats. Bizarrely Warm Rock is uncomfortable to use and doesn't have a big return. I've seen it used as a substitute for Spymaster's Web in Heroic raids with short combat times.

3. Damage Rotation

3-1. Opener

In most cases,

Living Flame 2 seconds before the pull - Deep Breath - Dragonrage - 1-stage Fire Breath - Shattering Star (Potion, Trinket during GCD) - 1-stage Eternity Surge - Disintegrate - Disintegrate - Disintegrate . . .Eternity Surge - Disintegrate - After that,Apply Power Swell to the second Fire Breath- Disintegrate - Shattering Star - Disintegrate - Disintegrate . . .

Q. Why do you use Power Swell on the second Fire Breath?

A. Fire Breath's damage does not increase depending on the enhancement stage. 1-stage Fire Breath has weak initial damage but a long DoT duration, and full-charge Fire Breath has strong initial damage but a short DoT duration. To cram in all the DoT damage of Fire Breath before the Dragonrage duration expires, apply Power Swell to the second Fire Breath to use an instant full-charge Fire Breath.

3-2. Skill Priority

Unless you're saving it to burst damage in a specific section, use Fire Breath, Eternity Surge, Disintegrate, Deep Breath, and Dragonrage whenever they're up.

3-3. If Dragonrage's cooldown is less than about 10 seconds, do not use Fire Breath and Eternity Surge.

Eternity Surge's cooldown comes back quickly due to tier effects and talents, so it's relatively easy to recover even if you use it, but Fire Breath should be used as quickly as possible after using Dragonrage to extend Dragonrage to the maximum time. Therefore, you should never use Fire Breath when Dragonrage has less than 10 seconds left.

3-4. What the heck are Chain and Clip;;;;

Before that, it's good to know that Disintegrate doesn't deal damage throughout its duration, but damage is dealt at each tick point.

Chain

Using Disintegrate and Disintegrate in successionis called chaining. There is a unique part of the WoW's siphon-type skill mechanism: if you recast the same siphon skill before the cast time expires, the last tick is transferred to the first tick of the next siphon.

Tick display of the first Disintegrate (divided into 3 equal parts), chain the next Disintegrate when the cast is 2/3 complete.

When you chain the second Disintegrate (the last tick of the first Disintegrate is transferred, resulting in a total of 4 equal parts)

If it's difficult to understand, think of it like this.

Full casting Disintegrate #1 and full casting Disintegrate #2

If you recast Disintegrate when the last tick of Disintegrate #1 is left (after the 2/3 point)

The damage in both cases is the same, but the latter has a shorter total cast time, so you can expect more efficient resource consumption and stronger DPS. (You can also eliminate the short blank time between full casting - full casting)

Precautions

Normal Disintegrate and normal Disintegrate can be chained.

Empowered Disintegrate and Empowered Disintegrate can be chained.

Empowered Disintegrate and normal Disintegrate *cannot* be chained. Therefore, the second Empowered Disintegrate is fully cast.

! If there are 4 or more targets, you should consider whether to chain Empowered Disintegrate. A chain where the target changes is not considered a chain, resulting in DPS loss.

So when do you chain?

=> Whenever possible, but if an empowered skill is within about 4 seconds, fully cast Disintegrate. (Empowered skill cooldown reduction per Disintegrate tick, natural cooldown reduction naturally returns the empowered skill cooldown within about 4 seconds when fully cast. If you forget this and chain, you will have to choose whether to postpone the empowered skill or interrupt Disintegrate during the next Disintegrate cast.)

Q. Sometimes Empowered Disintegrate goes out even though it's not Empowered Disintegrate?

A. It's a bug where only the effect goes out in 3 branches. The damage is applied to a single target as normal Disintegrate. This effect bug usually occurs when you barely connect or chain a normal Disintegrate without fully casting the last Empowered Disintegrate.

Clip

Intentionally interrupting Disintegrate during use and using a skill other than Disintegrate is called clipping.

Q. When and why do you do it?

A.Clipping is almost only used during Dragonrage's duration.Usually, use Disintegrate up to the 2/3 point and then cast another skill. (You cannot cancel it before that because of the GCD when casting Disintegrate. Even if you do it as soon as the GCD is up, it's past the middle point of the casting bar, so you use it after passing the 2/3 point where the Disintegrate tick is applied.

The reason for clipping is to cram in as much damage as possible during Dragonrage's duration. To understand this, you need to look at the following traits.

Disintegrate using Essence Burst (free Disintegrate, free Pyre)deals more damageandDuring Dragonrage's duration, Living Flame and Azure Strike have a 100% chance to trigger Essence Burst

Therefore, Disintegrate that consumes Essence Burst is more powerful than Disintegrate that consumes Essence, so when all Essence Bursts are used, clip Living Flame to quickly trigger Essence Burst again and reuse a stronger Disintegrate. Here's an example of a damage rotation.

*Essence Burst is charged up to 2 times.

*Never clip in the middle of Empowered Disintegrate.Dragonrage - Fire Breath - Shattering Star (one Essence Burst) - Eternity Surge (two Essence Bursts) - Empowered Disintegrate (one consumed) - Empowered Disintegrate (two consumed) - If you're lucky enough to get one Essence Burst refunded, Disintegrate -*The next Disintegrate to chain is a Disintegrate without Essence Burst, so clip Living Flame to regenerate up to two Essence Bursts*

- Disintegrate - Disintegrate . . . <- Using clippingDragonrage - Fire Breath - Shattering Star (one Essence Burst) - Eternity Surge (two Essence Bursts) - Empowered Disintegrate (one consumed) - Empowered Disintegrate (two consumed) - If there are no Essence Bursts left, generate Essence Burst with Living Flame - Disintegrate - Disintegrate . . .

<- No need to clip

Another reason is to clip to quickly roll the returning empowered skill while casting Disintegrate.

4. Tips

I will explain the parts that many people ask about and make mistakes.

1. Eternity Surge must be 1 charge in single target.

2. Use empowered skills whenever they're up.

-> This is the part that most people make mistakes. Some people keep any skill that comes off cooldown first in order to use the Fire Breath - Shattering Star - Eternity Surge national combo, but this is not good. Eternity Surge usually comes off cooldown first due to traits and tier effects, so use it first.

-> In terms of cooldown, the second Eternity Surge usually comes first after the opening Dragonrage Fire Breath Shattering Star Eternity Surge . . .

Eternity Surge - Empowered Disintegrate - Power Swell Fire Breath - Empowered Disintegrate - Shattering Star - Disintegrate - Disintegrate . . . You will develop a cycle of the form.

2-1. If you press Shattering Star before using Disintegrate twice after using Eternity Surge, you will fail.

-> This is because of the trait below.Fire Breath enhances red-type spells (Pyre, Living Flame),Eternity Surge enhances blue-type spells (Disintegrate, Shattering Star)

The effect of Shattering Star increases the damage taken by the target by 20% for 4 seconds upon hit, but the raw damage of Shattering Star itself is weak. Shattering Star is only used to enhance the damage of the next Disintegrate. If you use Shattering Star after Eternity Surge, one iridescent color is consumed by the raw damage of Shattering Star, resulting in DPS loss.

3. Use Shattering Star whenever possible, but use it when you can use Disintegrate more than twice.

Shattering Star is applied for 4 seconds after the projectile arrives, but if you throw Shattering Star in a situation where Essence is 0~1.5, you will not have enough Essence to use Disintegrate after using Disintegrate with one Essence Burst given by Shattering Star. This results in DPS loss during the remaining duration.

4. Use Eternity Surge and Shattering Star by consuming one or more Essence Bursts.

Eternity Surge and Shattering Star each give you one Essence Burst. If you use it with 2 Essence Bursts charged, you will lose one Essence Burst. However, if Essence Burst continues to be refunded and the cooldown is about to be pushed back, use Shattering Star and Eternity Surge without hesitation.

5. Advanced Tips

1. There is no need to rush to use Disintegrate after using Fire Breath.

Since the duration of the Empowered Disintegrate buff is long, rather than using Empowered Disintegrate without Essence Burst after using Fire Breath, it is a good idea to throw Incineration buff (instant Living Flame) once or twice to aim for Essence Burst.

As a similar usage method, if Shattering Star or Eternity Surge is about 2~3 seconds away after using Fire Breath, you can earn time with Living Flame and then use Shattering Star or Eternity Surge to receive Essence Burst + Shattering Star + Iridescent Color full buff and use Empowered Disintegrate twice.

2. It is good to use the following macro.

/cancelaura Deep Breath

-> The method of canceling Deep Breath by recasting it after using it has a minimum cast time, and it is sometimes eaten by itself if you press it quickly. Therefore, creating a macro to immediately cancel Deep Breath minimizes DPS loss.

In my case, I use the following macro together.

#showtooltip Dragonrage

/cancelaura Deep Breath

/cast Dragonrage

-> You can use this macro instead of Dragonrage. If you press it when it's not Deep Breath, Dragonrage is used, and if you press it only once after casting Deep Breath, only Deep Breath is canceled. If you press it repeatedly after casting Deep Breath, Deep Breath is canceled and Dragonrage is activated immediately.

3. It is good to use Hover before the opening.

There is the following trait of the Scalecommander Devastation Evoker.

Returns two Hovers when using Deep Breath. You can expect a much smoother play.

Hover 4 seconds before the pull - Hover 3 seconds before the pull - Living Flame 2 seconds before the pull - Deep Breath - Dragonrage . . . Use the two returned Hovers afterwards.

If the Upheaval timing is not specified, it is also a good idea to use it in the opening to start with 3 Hovers.

4. It is good to get into the habit of pressing Hover 'during the GCD'.

Hover is an instant skill that does not eat the GCD, but it has its own casting motion and a slight delay. The best timing to use Hover without DPS loss is to use it during the GCD. (ex. instant Living Flame, Dragonrage, Shattering Star, etc.)

5. Hover gives a slight grace period even when it expires.

The moving cast given by Hover gives a grace period of about 0.5 seconds even when it expires. This means that moving casting is possible for a short time even when it expires. However, in this case, there are cases where it is immediately canceled when reusing a skill while moving. This can lead to a large DPS loss.

6. It is best to use Shattering Star from as far away as possible.

Since the damage increase effect of Shattering Star is applied after the projectile arrives, if you use it while sticking to the target, the effect is applied as soon as you cast Shattering Star. This results in DPS loss during the subsequent GCD.

7. Living Flame can also trigger Essence Burst by healing allies.

Even in a single-target boss, healing is applied to nearby allies due to the Flame Touched talent when using Living Flame after using Fire Breath, and you can receive 2 Essence Bursts. However, this effect only occurs when allies are injured (only when a valid heal is applied to a target that is not at full health). Through this, you can predict how many Essence Bursts will be refunded.

8. Empowered Disintegrate is activated in the direction you are looking.(12/26 added)

For example, when the main target and the sub target are separated (ex. Gardens of Generosity), if you look at the main target and use Empowered Disintegrate, the siphon may not be plugged into the sub target next to it. However, if you place the viewpoint between the main target and the sub target (if you tilt your head too much, the skill may not go out because the target is not in front of you) and use Empowered Disintegrate, you can easily divide Empowered Disintegrate into multiple branches. Plugging Disintegrate into up to 3 targets, not one target, has the highest DPS expectation, so it is good to become proficient.

6. Talents

You can change the Evoker common talents to your liking.

1. Single Target (Ulgrax, Siculus, Kaybeezie)

3. AoE Boss (Obernox, Anduroth)

7. Mythic Boss Tips(12/26 added)

1st Boss Ulgrax

Since the add damage in the intermission phase is not counted in the .7 patch, you can take a single target talent. During the pulling pattern, you can resist by hitting Deep Breath even if the hitbox is wide and does not reach the boss's range. If you are proficient, you can stack Empowered Disintegrate with Fire Breath and Eternity Surge when the intermission phase is in the middle to end, and reduce the cooldown with Pyre to bring it to the main phase.

2nd Boss Bloodbound Amalgamation

When entering the internal zone, it is best to position yourself at the back and hit the big add and the boss at the same time with Fire Breath. Dragonrage will return at the timing of the AoE wipe, and you can continue to deal damage outside the range by using Paradox. However, since the range of Pyre and Fire Breath itself that are fired when using Dragonrage does not increase, it is best to use Dragonrage and Fire Breath inside the range and then go outside.

3rd Boss Siculus

Always position yourself in a location where you can quickly respond to patterns, and activate Hover between GCDs before patterns such as the floor come.

4th Boss Rhashan

If you delay the second Fire Breath just a little, you can hit the Power Swell Fire Breath at the timing when the adds come out. Since adds do not come out on the 3rd platform, you can roll the skills on cooldown, and in other platforms, you can check the time when the adds come out in advance and take a position where you can hit the main body and the adds at the same time and utilize Deep Breath and Fire Breath.

5th Boss Obernox

Hit Dragonrage on the first egg cracking, and hit Deep Breath on every egg cracking. If you use the Deep Breath -> Dragonrage combo at the timing when you become Gopin after egg cracking, you can expect a large DPS because 3 Pyres with Charge Blast (Pyre enhancement trait) are fully plugged into the adds. Also, since you are immune to CC while using Deep Breath, you can nullify the dispel debuff. In terms of strategy, it is best to use Pyre until the small adds are caught, and then use Empowered Disintegrate when only the big adds are left.

6th Boss Kaybeezie

Since there may be difficulties with the short range of Devastation during the first floor laying pattern, it is best to take the position closest to the boss if possible. If you become proficient, you can develop a technique to quickly approach and hit Deep Breath with Hover even if you are caught in the subsequent charge pattern, and then go out again with Hover. If you bring a total of 3 Hovers with Upheaval and 2-charge Hover at the start of the intermission phase, you can expect free damage throughout the intermission phase.

7th Boss Gardens of Generosity

The number of casts and hits of Deep Breath account for a significant portion. However, it is best to use it conservatively until you become proficient because there is a risk of terrorism. If it is difficult to approach and use Deep Breath, it may be helpful to take 2 stacks of Hover with a stationary Deep Breath - Deep Breath cancel for smoother play. Dragonrage is usually used on the first charge in phase 1, on the first dispel in phase 2, and then as the cooldown comes. The dispel debuff increases by 25% from the time the debuff is applied after the dispel, not when Takaz is in a state of incapacitation, so you can use Dragonrage from the time of the 1st dispel. You can take the Evoker common talent Disintegrate to use it usefully in the intermission phase.

8th Boss Anduroth

Since most of the patterns have been nerfed, Devastation Evokers can hit Deep Breath on all Silkburrows (root). Also, if the situation allows, you can use Upheaval in the opening to enable smooth play until the second half of phase 1. You can hit both casters (two tubes) on the 2nd platform of phase 2 by using Empowered Disintegrate in front of the platform. Dragonrage is usually used twice in phase 1 - once on the 2nd platform of phase 2 - and as the cooldown comes in phase 3.

In conclusion

There are many question posts, but there are not many updated strategy posts, so I wrote this to help you even though my writing skills are lacking. Thank you for reading, and if there are any parts that are disorganized or difficult to understand, or if you have any additional questions,Please leave a comment, in-game message, or Inven message and I will be sure to reply even if it is late.
