Fortnite is a master of collaborations and it started welcoming classic anime over the last two years. With calendar pages turning to 2025, it was time for Dragon Ball skins to come back, but they were nowhere to be found on Jan. 1.
Dragon Ball skins in Fortnite were last available in Aug. 2024, and many looked forward to their return. While the skins are technically back, you can't see them in the Fortnite store at the time of writing.
Fortnite data miners quickly found out what was causing this problem, and it turned out to be missing shop sections. Apparently, the Dragon Ball skins are in the shop, but Epic forgot to add their respective categories in the shop. As a result, the Dragon Ball cosmetics became invisible for the players.
Considering Fortnite's rapid store rotation, Dragon Ball cosmetics may receive a time extension to compensate for the downtime. Such hiccups are to be expected in live service games, especially around the holiday season. The number of developers actively working on Fortnite could be at an all-time low during Christmas and New Year since they're likely to enjoy the holidays with their families.
Fortnite also had an electric 2024 with multiple big-time collaborations, including artists, athletes, and even global brands like Nike and Jordan. It was one of the busiest years for the company from a corporate perspective since such deals take a lot of effort to finalize. Knowing Fortnite, it'll likely try to one-up its 2024 achievements in 2025.
While Godzilla is next up on the list, there are also plenty of blockbuster movie releases in 2025, which can all be collaboration opportunities for Fortnite. Superman, The Fantastic Four, Jurassic World Rebirth, and How to Train Your Dragon can all fancy a collaboration with Fortnite toward the time of their releases. If Epic were to combine these with singers and artists, Fortnite could be looking at a full calendar from the start of 2025.
Having played Fortnite for a good 300+ hours, I always thought that Epic would start struggling when it comes to landing these deals and coming up with plots at some point. I couldn't be more wrong with this prediction since each season outclasses the previous one in terms of content and storytelling. I especially love tuning into end-of-the-season events to get some closure around the ongoing stories and a sneak peek of what to expect in the next season.
