Monster Hunter Now, new Elder Dragon 'Kirin' arrives February 1st

Niantic and Capcom's monster hunting game 'Monster Hunter Now' will add a new Elder Dragon species, 'Kirin,' on February 1st.

Kirin, also known by the alias 'Phantom Beast,' is one of the most popular monsters representing the Monster Hunter series. Although classified as an Elder Dragon, it is more akin to a 'Unicorn' than a dragon.

- Paid Event 'Monster Hunter Now Winter Hunt 2025' Held Simultaneously
- Niantic: "Using Lunar New Year event-limited equipment will make it easier to subdue Kirin."

In Monster Hunter Now, Kirin will appear through 'Elder Dragon Raid' points. The materials obtained from hunting Kirin can be used to produce new armor, the 'Kirin Set,' which increases lightning attack power and helps to remove paralysis, as well as lightning-element weapons.

As the female Kirin set has gained popularity among many hunters throughout the series for its unique appearance design, it is expected that many will attempt to obtain the Kirin set's appearance in Monster Hunter Now, regardless of its performance. Currently, three types of monsters can be encountered in Elder Dragon Raids: Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Nergigante.

Meanwhile, Niantic will hold the 'Monster Hunter Now Winter Hunt 2025' event to commemorate the addition of Kirin. If you purchase the event ticket, a paid product, Kirin will appear intensively in Elder Dragon Raids for two days from February 1st to February 2nd, an event that makes it easier to craft the Kirin Set and weapons.

Beyond simply having more Kirin appear, the waiting time required for retries will also disappear, so you can continue to catch Kirin without extra consecutive hunt tickets, and you can also receive additional benefits, including an increased 'Dimension Link' monster spawn rate, shortened large monster respawn time, expanded approach range, and event-exclusive layered armor.

Niantic advised that Kirin can be hunted more effectively by utilizing the event-limited equipment provided in the Lunar New Year event 'Bring Fortune! Lunar New Year 2025,' which has been underway since the 27th. The Lunar New Year event-limited equipment 'Manbok's Cane,' 'Lucky Dragon Hammer,' 'Fortune-Calling Dragon Fan,' and 'Dragon Dance Mask' are equipment with high Dragon element stats and Super Critical Eye skill. Even if you don't raise the equipment grade by collecting materials, you can expect even novice users to be able to hunt Kirin easily, as it shows high performance correction through the 'Boost Equipment' bonus.

More detailed information about the Elder Dragon 'Kirin' and the Winter Hunt event newly added to Monster Hunter Now can be found on the official Monster Hunter Now website.
