LSFG Dual Graphics Card Usage Guide

This guide is based on information from the MaYoungJeon Inven, Quasar Zone, etc., with added explanations based on my own knowledge.

This guide explains how to use dual graphics cards (two graphics cards) instead of a single graphics card (one graphics card).

This method resolves various issues caused by insufficient processing power when using a single graphics card, so many people are using it to increase their frame rates.

LSFG can be applied not only to games but also to various applications, including watching YouTube and Netflix.

This method can also be applied to Radeon AFMF2.

Terminology

GPU that runs high-performance games = Rendering GPU

GPU that performs LSFG frame generation = Sub GPU

Requirements

  • Windows 11 (Windows 10 requires registry editing [Method] and may cause unexpected behavior/Windows 10 Dual Ori LSFG Main, Sub Graphics Card Setup Method > Graphics Card | Quasar Zone QUASARZONE)
  • Motherboard that supports sufficient PCIe bandwidth for 2 GPUs,(For 1440p, at least PCIe 3.0 x4 for both slots, and for 4K, 4.0 x4 for both slots). This is very important. Even if both slots are physically x16 slots, be sure to check that they support enough lanes. PCIE slot information can be found in your motherboard's user manual.
  • Sufficient power supply
  • A good enough sub GPU. If it cannot generate enough frames, it will bottleneck the system. Higher resolutions and more demanding LSFG settings require a more powerful sub GPU. Check the chart below for information on how well a particular GPU handles LS as a sub.

Frame Generation Rate Table by Sub GPU Resolution

This chart shows the maximum frame rate that various GPUs can generate with X2 LSFG at 100% resolution scale when used in a dual GPU setup. It uses data from several different users. Generally, higher multipliers are technically more efficient, so you can achieve higher frame rates using a sub GPU.

Configuration method

  • Connect the monitor to the sub GPU, not the rendering GPU. This ensures that video data only moves from one GPU to another, without having to return, greatly reducing the load on PCIe bandwidth and the GPU memory controller.
  • Make sure the rendering GPU is set to System -> Display -> Graphics -> Default Graphics Settings (Windows 11)

  • Open Lossless Scaling and set the sub GPU as the preferred GPU in the GPU & Display options

  • Nvidia Control Panel - Manage 3D Settings - Global Settings - Set OpenGL rendering GPU to rendering GPU. This will cause the rendering GPU to be used in games like Minecraft Java (which may require the Forge modding API).

  • Restart your PC
  • When configured correctly, a dual GPU setup can achieve much higher frame rates while realizing lower latency than DLSS frame generation. It can also be used to distribute tasks such as recording, machine learning model training, and rendering/simulation.

Note:

  1. Disable **Low Latency Mode** in the Nvidia Control Panel. Rendering performance may be degraded when using a second GPU.
  2. It is possible and recommended to use a mix of AMD and Nvidia GPUs. In particular, AMD GPUs show better performance in LSFG processing.
  3. Mixing Intel Arc GPUs with GPUs from other brands can cause serious problems.

c. Nvidia settings, etc.

[NVIDIA Control Panel Settings]

1. Global Settings

- Set CUDA and OpenGL rendering GPU to main GPU

(If you don't see the CUDA settings, use the Nvidia app to set them)

  • This is to make the main GPU used for game rendering and computation.
  • The reason for doing it globally is because it is annoying to set it for each game.
  • The reason for specifying only the main GPU for CUDA settings is because we will use each GPU for its own purpose and will not use them in parallel.

퀘이사존

- Low Latency Mode Settings

  • Previously, it was set with RivaTuner Nvidia Reflex, but since there are reports that it does not apply to games, it is set in the Nvidia Control Panel.
  • Please disable RivaTuner Nvidia Reflex

2. Play Game Settings

- Maximum Frame Rate Limit (Same as before)

  • After checking the value that can be maintained stably while playing the desired game, limit it to that frame.
  • It is best to set it to a factored multiple of the refresh rate.
  • Example) If 120 - 30, 40, 60, if 144 - 38, 72

3. Ori Settings

- Set CUDA and OpenGL rendering GPU to sub GPU

  • This is to make the sub GPU responsible only for frame generation and output.

D. Ori Guide

At the bottom of Scaling< Method >is an option that mainly increases sharpness, like a filter effect. There are several options, so it is best for individuals to try several and settle on one. According to the developer, LS1 and SGSR options are recommended for 3D games.

At the bottom of Frame Generation< TYPE >uses LSFG 3.0. It shows excellent performance compared to the previous version.

< Mode >is applied differently depending on your monitor's refresh rate.

If your minimum frame is 60 and your monitor refresh rate is 120hz, selecting X2 will make the original frame 60 and the actual frame displayed on the screen 120. The official recommended setting by the developers is X2, which has the best stability.

At the bottom of Frame Generation< Resolution Scale >is a function that can reduce GPU load. It is used when focusing a little more on performance.

The recommended values mentioned by the developers are 75% for QHD monitors and 50% for 4K monitors. Please find the value that suits your environment.

At the bottom of RenderingMaximum Frame SettingisIt generates more extra frames, and if the frame rendering time is long or you want to use a higher refresh rate than your monitor, you can increase the value and use it. You can see a smooth screen even in situations where the original frame is low.

However, we have confirmed that the higher this value, the more likely input lag will occur. It is recommended to find your own settings by gradually increasing from a low value.

Multi-Display Modeprevents the game's upscaling from being released when switching screens to Alt-Tab or another window. Still, there is a certain feeling left in moments. Try it and decide.

E a,b,c,d After Guide

First of all, in the case of this interpolation, it is recommended to use x2 times. Ghosting increases rapidly after x3, which may cause unpleasantness. Currently, in the case of RTX 5000 series X4 times, there is a considerable sense of incongruity, so please be aware of this.

1. If the game supports DLSS, it is good to use DLSS together. (Turn off upscaling when using DLSS)

2. Be sure to use LSFG in dual mode. When used in single mode, the delay time increases rapidly, input lag also increases, and a considerable sense of incongruity occurs, making it not good to use.

3. This LSFG gives a considerable advantage to UMPC users. If you are a UMPC user, be sure to buy it and use it. The benefits gained from the frame are much greater than the sense of incongruity.

4. Please refrain from using the built-in graphics as much as possible. When using it, the built-in graphics card must have specifications of at least 1050ti or higher.

5. It is not recommended to use frame interpolation such as FSR or DLSS4 OR DLSS3 together.

6 It is recommended to turn off upscaling

If you have to use it, we recommend FSR for console games and LS1, SGSR options for 3D games, but it is best not to use it if you can avoid it.

7. It can be used in full mode by default, but if you want to use it in windowed mode or full windowed mode, you can enable Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics -> Optimization for windowed games based on Windows 10,11.

8. You can benefit from heat generation and power consumption if you use undervolting + frame limit (applied through Nvidia drivers, etc.) to 70% of the monitor HZ level.

Update

The latest update (beta version) was made on March 04, 2025 (Korean time). The function created through this update is a function that allows you to make the screen smoother by automatically adjusting the magnification and basic frame so that it can go up to the specified frame.

This function recommends dual graphics cards, and when using it, there is no need to fix the Nvidia driver frame unless there is a reduction in power consumption or other reasons.

Fixed mode: Existing magnification specification option

adaptive mode: New mode, frame specification free magnification option

When using this mode, x2 times or more is automatically applied, which increases power consumption and sub-graphics card usage.

So you can use what you want.
