'Red Wheel Games,' founded by former Pearl Abyss CEOs Cho Yong-min and Seo Yong-soo, has changed its name to 'Mystical Games.'
'Mystical' is derived from Mistelteinn, which means mistletoe. Mistletoe is a fragile plant but plays an important role in mythology. The two co-CEOs chose the somewhat unfamiliar but special name 'Mystical' to commemorate the philosophy they had in mind when they founded the company.
Mystical Games is currently developing 'Time Takers' and 'Project Grey,' two PC console games in different genres. Time Takers was proposed by CEO Cho Yong-min, and Project Grey was started by CEO Seo Yong-soo.
NCSoft will be publishing Time Takers.
And there's an opportunity to see the new office of Mystical Games, a startup taking on these challenges. Mystical Games, which uses a wide-open floor, is simply decorated like a startup, but it is designed to focus on development and facilitate the sharing of ideas.
CEO Cho Yong-min said that he wanted a large space where all employees could fit on one floor, so that all employees could see each other and communicate directly, but with less noise. In fact, employees in the office freely went to each other's desks to exchange opinions and discuss.
Another thing that stood out was the test room. Or rather, the test space. The test space, with several computers and various consoles, occupied a large part of the office. Mystical Games plays the game internally several times a day in this test space, providing feedback and fixing it.
Mystical Games' new office was certainly not glamorous. Nevertheless, it had everything a game development company should have. Although it was only one floor, there was a test space and a motion capture room. It was a game development space that embodied CEO Cho Yong-min's idea that 'making fun games is the first virtue of a development company.'
