Google Play Top 3 Grossing Games All Occupied by Chinese Games

Chinese games have taken over the top spots in Google Play's sales rankings, a major mobile app market in Korea.

 

 

 

As of this morning, February 19th, the top 3 spots in Google Play's sales rankings are filled by Chinese games. The top spot is 'Last War: Survival', a hyper-casual strategy game serviced by First Fun. It has a record of climbing from 255th to 1st in sales since its initial release. Currently, 'Last War: Survival' is known to generate around 1 billion won in daily sales.

 

2nd place 'WOS: Whiteout Survival' is a strategy game made by Century Games of China. It mainly consists of tribal warfare content and offers a variety of paid products.

 

Newly ranked at the top is 'I9:Inferno Nine', an MMORPG developed by LENIU Games of China. It started service on January 16th. It launched aggressive marketing campaigns, offering iPhone 16 Pro Max, Galaxy S24 Ultra, etc. as prizes at the beginning of its release.

 

Looking at the top 9, the Korean games are NCSoft's 'Lineage M', Kakao Games' 'Odin: Valhalla Rising', and Devsisters' 'Cookie Run: Kingdom'. There are 6 foreign games, which is twice as many.

 

In the future, high-quality Chinese games are preparing for release in Korea. These include Hotta Studio's 'Ithuan', XD's 'Etheria: Restart', Hypergryph's 'Arknights: Endfield', and Naked Rain Studio's 'Infinity'.

Recently, the Chinese games' strategy in the Korean market can be summarized as highly specialized marketing, diverse gameplay, and high-quality games. 'Last War' has driven sales growth with marketing that targets the core user base. Marketing costs and revenue are increasing together.

 

 

Chinese games scheduled for release in the future feature urban fantasy, occult, cyberpunk, post-apocalypse, and avant-garde elements. In particular, 'Infinity' is a subculture open-world RPG developed by NetEase, a Chinese gaming giant. NetEase has changed the project name and opened an official website and Korean YouTube channel, while preparing for release by conducting pre-registration.
