'Canna' Kim Chang-dong, "Top lane swap ban patch is positive... Looking forward to fun laning phase"
On the 8th, the '2025 First Stand ASSET DAY 1:1 Interview' was held at LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The main character of this interview is 'Canna' Kim Chang-dong, who is playing as a top laner for Karmine Corp in the LEC league. He recently returned to Korea in glory after winning the LEC Winter Split, and he had this interview just a few days after the tournament ended. The interview included the meaning of the victory, his impressions of returning to LoL Park, and his expectations and preparations for the upcoming international tournament. We were able to hear the candid story of Canna, who stood in front of the LCK stage and fans again after two years.
Q. You returned to Korea after winning the regional league. How have you been?
Canna:It really hasn't been a few days since the tournament ended. I filmed content for a day after winning, rested for a day, and came right out. I didn't really do anything, just doing well.
Q. Did you have time to spend with your family?
Canna:Not right now. I think I'll have some time after this tournament.
Q. You won the 2025 LEC Winter. How do you feel about the meaning of this victory?
Canna:It's the first time I've won in another league after leaving LCK. It's a very valuable win because I won in the Summer and Winter in less than a year. I'm happy to be back at the top in such a short period of time, and it's a very valuable win for the team.
Q. What did the LEC victory mean to you?
Canna:It was an opportunity to prove myself once again.
Q. What are your impressions of returning to Korea's LoL Park after a long time?
Canna:It's already been two years. I'm so glad to be back, and I'm so glad to be in this place. There are some changes, so it's refreshing, and I'm happy to be able to play on stage in front of LCK fans again.
Q. Will your experience at LoL Park help you in the tournament?
Canna:Of course, I think it will be comfortable. I hope my teammates have fun too.
Q. What did your teammates say about LoL Park?
Canna:The mid laner jokingly said that the LCK break room is better than the LEC one.
Q. What is your determination for this tournament?
Canna:There were a lot of talks that G2 Esports would be coming to the international tournament from LEC, but Karmine Corp came instead. I want to leave a good impression on people who don't know me from Karmine Corp by achieving good results.
Q. How did you prepare for the tournament? Are there any opponents you are particularly wary of or looking forward to?
Canna:This tournament is fun because there are three former T1 top laners. And I heard that the match between me and 'Zeus' is getting a lot of attention from fans. I'm going to enjoy it.
Q. How are you looking forward to the match against Zeus?
Canna:We used to be close, but we are the challengers. Zeus is a great player with two World Championship wins, so I feel pressured, but I want to show a good performance.
Q. What is your goal for this tournament?
Canna:Of course, I'm looking at winning, and my immediate goal is to reach the semifinals.
Q. The Hanwha Life Esports players said they are wary of Karmine Corp. What do you think?
Canna:It's so fun. I think the opponent will be as nervous as we are. I don't know if there will be a variety of picks, but I will create a strategy that can deliver a strong blow.
Q. A top lane swap ban patch was implemented before this tournament. What do you think about this?
Canna:I think it's positive. There was a lot of stress from the top lane's perspective because of the swaps, but I'm grateful to Riot and I think we can have fun laning again.
Q. Did you prepare a joker card to use in Fearless Mode?
Canna:I think I'll put in picks that haven't been used much in the 4th and 5th sets. I have a prepared card.
Q. What are your thoughts on standing in front of LCK fans after a long time?
Canna:I'm back at LoL Park after two years. There are fans who are happy to see me and fans who aren't, but I'll do my best and do my job well. I'm glad to be able to see you in LCK after two years, and I'll make a fun game. I hope you look at it favorably.
