MapleStory in-game play hunting/bossing review on Apple M4 chip macOS
It's grandly written, but the content is weak.
I've written about this before, but I love 2-in-1 tablet PCs, so
I've gone through the Surface Pro lineup and ASUS Z13, and now I'm using Minisforum V3.
I switched to V3 8840u 32gb after seeing the stable CPU low-power performance + integrated graphics performance.
I was using it very well because it has its own 165hz screen, but
This time, the Macbook Air M4 came out, and the price-performance ratio has become quite good, so I wanted to buy it....
Before buying it, I borrowed my wife's Mac Mini M4 16gb basic model and tested it.
-Cons
1. Even with the font patch, the readability is still terrible. -> Since it's still in beta testing, I think it will get better if I patch it a bit more.
2. Client cannot be executed independently -> It doesn't really matter, but I have to log in to the web and then run the client, which I'm not used to. I'm used to turning on the client and logging in since 03, so opening the web page first is a bit... annoying. (It seems really annoying when switching accounts)
3. Since it follows the Mac keyboard and mouse settings, I have to modify the options I used to use when playing the game. This is also a problem with Mac, so I can adapt to it, but I think I should set F1~F12 to be used like Windows and get used to it.
4. It runs so well that I'm going to buy a Mac even though I already have a Windows tablet and desktop. I'm now looking at the Macbook Pro 14 M4 pro 24gb with the mindset of doing that instead of buying this, so my bank balance is a bit annoying (if I think about it differently, I feel better thinking that I'm getting a laptop instead of a clean 22 ether top 6 return double legendary 6 line item.)
-Pros
I wonder if adjusting the Maple in-game options is meaningful, but I set it to very high,
Memory input/output is up to 7GB,
Resolution is 2560 1440(QHD) 100hz (Monitor : MSI MAG401QR)
Hunting -> I hunted like I was farming in Ruins 2, and there are occasional lags, but I can hardly feel the lag. If it wasn't for the font, it would make me think I was using Windows.
Boss -> I tested it mainly on Seren and Kalos, where I think I can feel the frame drop well.
The slightly stiff feeling at the beginning of entering Kalos phase 1 is also felt in Windows,It's not much different, but rather there was no freezing phenomenon.
(The lag is the same whether it's EX, Chaos, Normal, or Easy. I think Maple needs to optimize something.)
I didn't feel any lag in the Geomeetsol section. It's no different from my main tablet.
Union Raid -> It's similar to Windows. There's some lag, but the monsters are caught well and move well.
*The best thing is that the Liberation invincibility is not eaten.
In the rest, it was so smooth that I wondered why it was so smooth, and when I was doing extreme deals and turning on Liberation invincibility in Windows, I had to watch the timing very carefully and press the skill accurately when nothing was pressed and there was no pre-delay, but in Mac, it just turned on when I pressed it.
I don't think there will be any problems even if I do it while using Discord. There may be a little lag when sharing the screen,,,, I can't say for sure because I haven't tested it, but I don't think there will be any problems even with the M4 basic model.
---------------
Overall, I think Maple runs better than I thought because the basic RAM of this M4 is 16g.
There were many articles that gave a slightly uncomfortable nuance that I could think of as 'it could be because it's in beta testing' in M1, M2 8g, but as far as I've run it on M4 16g... um... why use Windows?
SingleThe core performance has increased almost 1.5 times from M1 to M4, so there will be a difference in CPU class.
I'm guessing that the reason why they're trying to support MacOS is to target the GMS market a little more?
So I hope that the day will come when it is completely linked with MacOS in the near future. (If iPad OS is also supported, the iPad Pro has a high possibility of becoming a solid farming machine. I'm burning my happy circuit and leaving...)
The Mac Mini basic model is $499, which seems to be the best for a Maple machine.
M4 Macbook Air is $899 with education discount...
If I'm going to buy it, I'll have to buy the cheapest Macbook Air or compromise and buy a Macbook Pro m4pro 24 512...
