Hyun-mahm "삭니니" Sacks, former Blizzard Vice President, appointed as new CEO of Discord

Discord announced on the 23rd, local time, that co-founder and current CEO Jason Citron will be stepping down. Co-founder Stan Vishnevskiy will remain as CTO, and former Activision Blizzard Vice President Humam Sakhnini has been appointed as the new CEO.
As President of King Digital Entertainment, new CEO Humam Sakhnini was a key figure in the success of the 'Candy Crush Saga' series. After King was acquired by Activision Blizzard, he rose to Vice President of Activision Blizzard, overseeing major portfolios such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.
Discord is currently a global gaming communication platform with over 200 million monthly active users worldwide. According to Discord's announcement, it is focusing on its gaming-based identity in 2024 and is pursuing new revenue models such as advertising, microtransactions, and providing social infrastructure for game development in addition to subscription services, achieving adjusted EBITDA profitability for five consecutive quarters.
After deciding to step down, CEO Jason Citron said, "From the beginning, our mission was to connect people around games," and recalled his time at Discord as the most rewarding experience of his life. Regarding the appointment of Humam Sakhnini, he also said, "His industry expertise and business expansion capabilities will play an important role in Discord's leap to the next level."
New CEO Humam Sakhnini said, "Discord is a core infrastructure of the gaming ecosystem that countless players, developers, and publishers rely on today," and added, "I will dedicate myself to upholding our mission and expanding the business with this team."
