Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt'
The masterpiece 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,' which widely introduced the Witcher series to the world, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in May 2025.
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) announced on the 5th, through its official SNS, that its flagship title 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (hereinafter Witcher 3)' has reached its 10th anniversary.
CDPR celebrated the day, commemorating 10 years of journey, 10 years of fighting the Wild Hunt, 10 years of playing Gwent, and 10 years of monster hunting, along with a message asking to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Witcher 3 together, and unveiled a special illustration commemorating the 10th anniversary. The illustration features Geralt of Rivia, the eternal protagonist of the Witcher series, Ciri, and Eredin, the leader of the Wild Hunt.
Witcher 3 is an open-world action RPG in which Geralt, a professional monster hunter, saves Ciri, the child of destiny, from the threat of the Wild Hunt. First released on May 18, 2015, it has been loved by many RPG fans for 10 years, supporting expansion to various platforms and free next-generation updates.
CDPR added Korean dubbing along with the next-generation update for Korean gamers in 2022, and in the second half of 2024, the 9th anniversary, it achieved '1 million' copies sold in Korea alone. At this time, a special artwork was also released to commemorate the achievement of 1 million copies, which featured Geralt wearing a sujeonggap and holding a hwando against the backdrop of Gwanghwamun.
Meanwhile, CDPR is currently focusing on the development of the latest Witcher series 'The Witcher4'. The new 'The Witcher4', which is being produced with Unreal Engine 5 instead of the existing proprietary engine, will end Geralt's story and be the first title in a new trilogy that begins from Ciri's perspective.
No additional information related to the game has been released since the cinematic trailer and developer behind-the-scenes video released at the end of 2024. 'The Witcher4' is scheduled to be released after 2027, and all three titles of the trilogy are expected to be released within 6 years from the release date.
