Epic Games Korea announced a major expansion of its 'Fortnite' service in Korea on the 11th. They are introducing two new games, officially entering the domestic app market 'One Store,' and partnering with Nexon PC Bangs to actively target Korean users.
Through this expansion, new game experiences have been added to the Fortnite universe. The fast-paced 5v5 team-based first-person shooter (FPS) game 'Fortnite Ballistic' and the casual social role-playing game (RPG) 'LEGO Fortnite Brick Life' have been officially released.
In addition, two new maps created by 'Verseworks,' Asia's largest user-generated content (UGC) game developer, have been revealed. You can play 'Squad: Team Deathmatch,' a 6v6 team deathmatch mode, and 'Bada: One Shot,' a map where you can enjoy fast-paced battles with one shot, one kill. Epic Games has created a dedicated section on the Discover screen to make it easier for users to find these UGC contents.
A large number of customized contents targeting Korean users have also been released.
The 'Son Heung-min Bundle' in collaboration with Son Heung-min will be sold for a limited time from the 21st to the 28th. This bundle includes an emote that recreates Son Heung-min's signature '찰칵' (chalkak) celebration, which is expected to be a big hit with fans. In addition, music from domestic artists such as Jungkook, Jimin, Enhypen, and ILLIT has been added as new 'Jam Tracks' so that users can play and remix them directly in the game.
Distribution channels have also been expanded to enhance user accessibility. 'Fortnite' has been officially released on the domestic app market One Store, making it easier for Android smartphone users to download the game.
From July 31st, a partnership with Nexon PC Bangs will provide various paid items to PC Bang users for free. To commemorate this, users who connect from Nexon PC Bangs until September 15th will receive a special 'Saekdongchima Kite Glider' with a Korean traditional kite theme. In addition, all domestic users will receive the 'Adventurer Philly' outfit for free when they connect during the same period.
Park Seong-cheol, CEO of Epic Games Korea, said, "Since its first launch in Korea in 2018, Fortnite has now evolved into an ecosystem where players, creators, and brands coexist." He added, "The domestic expansion launch and various K-partnerships announced today are just the beginning, and we will continue to listen to feedback and strive to ensure that the Korean community and developers can enjoy together."
