'Wo0t' Shines... Team Heretics Defeats Fnatic to Win EWC VALORANT
Team Heretics has become the inaugural champion of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 VALORANT event.

On the 13th (local time), Team Heretics secured a 'reverse sweep' victory with a set score of 3-2 against European powerhouse Fnatic in the EWC 2025 VALORANT final held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
With this victory, Team Heretics claimed the first EWC VALORANT championship trophy along with a prize of $500,000 (approximately 650 million KRW).
Fnatic dominated the early part of the final. Fnatic seemed poised to easily win the championship by taking the first two sets in a row.
Team's ace 'Wo0t' Mert Alkan saved the team from crisis with an explosive performance, recording 26 kills on the 'Icebox' map in the third set. They also won the following fourth set 'Haven', bringing the score back to square one.
In the final fifth set, both teams engaged in a tight battle, but Team Heretics, with superior concentration in the later stages, maintained their lead, putting an end to the long match and completing a dramatic comeback.
Team Heretics recently had a poor performance at VCT Masters Toronto, but they made a complete turnaround in this tournament.
Team captain 'Boo' Ricardas Lukasevicius said, "It's been very difficult for the past few months, but I felt we prepared well for this tournament," and added, "Having an honest conversation with the players after the first round loss was the turning point."
The MVP of this tournament was 'Wo0t' of Team Heretics, who played a decisive role in the final. 'Wo0t' received an additional $10,000 as the MVP prize.
