🛠️Gear Setup Guide by Combat Power
We provide a step-by-step gear setup guide in MapleStory, from 50 million to over 100 million combat power. We help new players overcome the difficulties of gear setup and assist with efficient shopping by providing information on how to use the main stat conversion site, considerations when purchasing gear, and recommended gear setups for each combat power level.
The main stat conversion site is essential for gear setup, providing stat efficiency and optimization information. You can preview the stats of items of interest in the auction house using the item maker function. Utilizing the conversion site well makes gear setup easier, so it is recommended to bookmark it. You can use Quick Mode in the item maker to try on gear as if you were equipping it in your inventory. Check stat changes upon replacement by using the additional spec simulator and favorites function.
When purchasing gear, it is best to check the number of scissor uses and buy items with 5 or more uses remaining.
- 50 Million Gear Setup:An Arcane 17-star gear setup is popular and can be easily progressed to liberation. Combine the Arcane set (weapon, shoes, gloves, shoulder, cape) with the Root Abyss set (hat, top, bottom). Choose 9 or 7 set boss accessories depending on the situation, and utilize accessories obtained from events. Utilize the Sealed Pendant from the Hyper Burning rewards, and use equipment transfer where possible. Purchase weapons and secondary weapons with at least one line of Legendary tier (30% Boss Damage or 12% Attack/Magic Attack or higher). Start with an Epic emblem, upgrade to Unique with a potential scroll, and then to Legendary tier.
- 100 Million Gear Setup:Not significantly different from the 50 million gear setup, but enhance the Trace Crafting to 30% or higher and perfect accessory crafting with Attack/Magic Attack scrolls. Completing the Black Mage liberation quest to obtain the liberation weapon is essential. You can easily increase combat power if your weapon, secondary weapon, and emblem are all Legendary tier. Gear setups become more diverse from 100 million combat power, so aim to equip Arcane gear with 18 stars and Unique 15% or higher potential. If you do not reach 100 million combat power even after liberation, it is recommended to mix in 22-star Legendary items in your accessories (Meister Ring recommended).
- 200 Million+ Combat Power:You need to upgrade to 22-star or higher items.
- 300 Million+ Combat Power:Consider an Arcane 22-star or Ethernal setup, and it is recommended to upgrade to Childe accessories.
📈Efficient Stat Upgrade Guide (Maple Baby~Maple Adult)
This is a guide on how to efficiently increase your stats in MapleStory after the item burning event ends. Proceed with gear setting in the order of weapons, armor, and accessories, and present realistic stat upgrade directions considering the goals and market prices for each stage.
- After the item burning event ends, you can achieve similar performance by properly equipping only the Arcane weapon and the rest with 12-star gear.
- If you take good care of your inner stats such as Union, Artifact, Link, and Insight, you will become much stronger than during the Challengers World event.
- If your goal is not the top tier, the weapon's 3-line options don't matter much whether it's Boss Damage/Attack/Attack or Boss/Boss/Attack.
- It is more efficient to match useful options with cubes obtained from the event shop for the emblem, and then purchase and use 'Mitra's Wrath'. It is better for your mental health and stat upgrade than investing mesos in a regular emblem.
| Mitra Emblem Types | Price |
|---|---|
| Top Potential Legendary Attack/Defense/Attack, Bottom Potential None | Early to mid 10 billion |
| Double Legendary Attack/Defense/Attack or Attack/Attack | Mid 30 billion |
| Attack/Attack/Attack or Attack/Attack | Near 80 billion |
It's expensive from a Maple baby's perspective, but it's difficult to get it yourself, so we recommend starting with a regular emblem and upgrading later. The price varies greatly depending on the job, so we classify it by tier.
- Maple Baby's First Goal: Top Potential Legendary 3 Lines / Bottom Potential Epic 1 Line
- Next Goal: Top Potential Legendary 3 Lines / Bottom Potential Unique 2 Lines
- Final Goal: Double Legendary
Weapon/Secondary Weapon: Boss Damage, Attack/Magic Attack %, Emblem: Ignore Enemy Defense, Attack/Magic Attack % (High-level players secure Ignore Enemy Defense with inner stats and only focus on Boss Damage, Attack/Magic Attack %). Arcane weapons are recommended until liberation (good value for money). A 17-star Arcane Legendary/Unique tier is sufficient until liberation. If there are double Legendary tier or cheap 22-star items, you can solo Black Mage. After liberation, cube the weapon and set up the secondary weapon and emblem.
Assume a 17-star Arcane weapon + Root Abyss/Arcane armor setup after the item burning event ends. Skip Absolab. Upgrade armor and accessories in steps. 12-star dirt Arcane -> 17/18 stars -> 18-star accessories -> 22 stars (depending on the market).

- 18-star Root Abyss: 1 billion range
- 18-star Arcane: 3~4 billion range
- Untouched Ethernal: Early 2 billion
- 18-star Ethernal: 10 billion range
- 22-star Root Abyss: 10 billion range
Consider equipping Drop Rate/Meso Obtain Rate gear when hunting, and set up armor after weapons. Root Abyss vs Ethernal: Choose based on the market (Ethernal 17-star = Root Abyss 22-star). Aim for 18-star all around -> 18-star accessories all around -> 22 stars.
- Ring: Seed Ring, Meister Ring, Guardian Angel Ring, Event Ring (replace with Godly Power Ring later)
- Remaining Parts: 4 Dawn Boss + Boss Accessories
- 18-star Dawn: 1 billion range
- Daybreak Pendant: Purchase 20-star transfer item and transfer to 19 stars or purchase a cheap 21-star and replace with 22 stars
- Eye Accessory: Black Bean Mark/Papulatus Mark, Belt: Gold Clover Belt/Condensed Power Crystal Belt (Tyrant Belt is not recommended)
- Pendant: Dominator Pendant
Basic 18-star-oriented configuration, utilize cheap 20-star items. If inner stats are sufficient, you can achieve a 40k stat at liberation. Stat upgrade cost per armor and accessory part: Several billion (cheap ones are 1 billion, expensive ones are 4 billion). Subsequent stat upgrades: Start from a minimum of 10 billion units.
- Direction: 18-star Black or 22-star Accessories
- 18-star Black: Top Potential Legendary 3 Lines, Bottom Potential Epic 2 Lines or more (early 10 billion)
- 22-star Dawn Item: Similar price range
Change the order depending on whether you have Mitra or not. If you have Mitra, prioritize 18-star Black, if you have a regular emblem, prioritize 22-star accessories first. Personally, I think they are in a similar price range. You can achieve a 60~70k stat. Subsequent stat upgrades: Minimum 20 billion or more (Arcane 22-star). You can enjoy most bosses except for the highest-level content. Rich setup: 22-star Black items, 22-star Ethernal items.
Gear Setup Order: Weapons -> Armor -> Accessories, Stat Upgrade Stage: 18-star all around -> 18-star Black & 22-star Accessories -> 22 Arcane, proceed with step-by-step pricing.
⚔️Gear Setup Types Summary (Pre/Post Liberation)
We organize the commonly used gear setup types in MapleStory, dividing them into pre-liberation (3 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, etc.) and post-liberation (4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 4 Ethernal 5 Absolab, etc.), and explain the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and selection criteria for each setup.
We organize the gear setup types in MapleStory, introducing 3 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 1 Arcane 2 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 3 Root Abyss 5 Arcane for pre-liberation, and 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, 4 Root Abyss 5 Arcane, 4 Ethernal 5 Absolab, 4 Ethernal 5 Arcane, 4 Root Abyss 4 Meister 4 Absolab for post-liberation. We plan to explain the most commonly used gear setups.
Here is a preliminary explanation of the items used in each gear setup:
- Root Abyss: Items from the Chaos Root Abyss boss (Fafnir weapon, Highness Hat, Eagle Eye Top, Trixter Bottom)
- Absolab: Items from the Suu, Damien bosses (weapon, gloves, shoes, cape, shoulder, hat, overall)
- Arcane: Items from the Arcane boss (weapon, gloves, shoes, cape, shoulder, hat, overall)
- Ethernal: Items from the Grandis boss (weapon, gloves, shoes, cape, shoulder, hat, top, bottom)
- Meister Set: Items that can be crafted in Meister Ville (weapon, earring, ring, shoulder)
This is a method of setting the hat, top, and bottom as Root Abyss, and the weapon, gloves, cape, shoulder, and shoes as Absolab. Absolab weapons are cheap, so they are sometimes used in 17-star or lower gear setups, but if you are considering 18 stars or higher, it is better to purchase an Arcane weapon. This setup is not commonly used now because Arcane weapon prices have become cheaper.
- 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab:This setup uses the weapon, top, and bottom as Root Abyss, the gloves, cape, shoulder, and shoes as Absolab, and the hat as the lucky item Chaos Root Abyss hat. You can receive both the Root Abyss 4-set effect and the Absolab 5-set effect. In the past, it was meaningful for sub-characters due to the price difference between Fafnir weapons and Absolab weapons, but it is better to use Arcane weapons now. Zero uses a lucky item hat for the 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab setup until liberation because of the gimmick of upgrading the weapon directly.
- 1 Arcane 2 Root Abyss 5 Absolab:Only the weapon is changed to Arcane, and the rest is the same setup. In 1 Arcane 2 Root Abyss 5 Absolab, the weapon, Arcane, top, and bottom are fixed as Root Abyss, and the hat, gloves, shoulder, cape, and shoes are matched with Absolab.
- 3 Root Abyss 5 Arcane:The hat is Root Abyss, and the gloves, shoulder, shoes, and cape are Arcane. This setup shows the highest performance because the base attack power of the Arcane weapon is high.
Selection criteria vary depending on the armor market and budget.
- 1~2 billion per part: 17~18 star Absolab
- 3~5 billion per part: 17~18 star Arcane
- 10 billion or more per part: 20 star or higher Absolab, 20 billion or more: 20 star Arcane
- Completely free-to-play: Arcane recommended (higher value)
This is a setup where the hat is replaced with Root Abyss instead of Absolab. In most setups after liberation, the hat, top, and bottom are set as Root Abyss along with the lucky item liberation weapon, so this setup sets the hat as Root Abyss in advance. It is slightly weaker than the Absolab hat before liberation, but it is okay to set it up in advance because liberation is not difficult. This is the most common liberation setup. The Genesis weapon is a lucky item, so it can be applied to multiple sets like the Chaos Root Abyss hat.
- Summary
- 4 Root Abyss 5 Absolab/5 Arcane:The hat, top, and bottom go to Root Abyss to fix 4 Root Abyss, and the gloves, shoes, cape, and shoulder are determined as Absolab or Arcane to set up.
- 4 Ethernal 5 Absolab/5 Arcane:If you put Ethernal instead of Root Abyss for the hat, top, and bottom, you get the 4 Ethernal 5 Absolab/5 Arcane setup. Use 17~18 star Ethernal cost-effectively, or use it when you have already matched all parts to 22 stars and have no choice but to do 22 star Ethernal.
- 4 Ethernal (Shoulder) 4 Absolab (Hat) + 5 Absolab:In the 4 Ethernal 5 Absolab setup, the shoulder goes to Ethernal and the hat goes to Absolab. Most liberation users go to Root Abyss for the hat, so this is a cost-effective setup that brings the cheaper Absolab hat and puts in the Ethernal shoulder for the set effect. The hat part is the only part where skill cooldown reduction appears, so if you are a cooldown reduction job, it is better to bring the Absolab cooldown reduction hat. However, as much as you set it up cheaply, it may cost more money when moving to the next gear setup.
- 4 Root Abyss 4 Meister 4 Absolab:Since the Genesis weapon becomes a lucky item, this setup uses Meister, Root Abyss, and Absolab to maximize the weapon set effect. Use the Genesis weapon, Root Abyss hat/top/bottom, Absolab gloves/shoes/cape, along with Meister earring, Meister ring, and Meister shoulder. This setup is established because of the Meister 4-set effect's 20% boss attack power. If you use the Meister shoulder and earring, one accessory set effect is missing and the item options themselves are low, which can be a disappointing setup. There are almost no Meister shoulder items available. It is best to match it only in sections where cost-effectiveness comes out.
- Full Ethernal:This is a setup where all armor goes to Ethernal. Ethernal gloves, shoes, cape, and hat cost about 5 billion mesos, and it is a setup worth considering only if you invest more than 10 million won in cash.
