ARK Survival Ascended: Guide to Taming Elderclaw and All Its Abilities
This guide explains how to tame Elderclaw in ARK Survival Ascended, including the necessary preparation, the step-by-step domestication process, its skills and key statistics. The Colonies expansion pack is required to tame it.
1. 🗺️ Location and Initial Requirements to Tame Elderclaw

- ✅ Locate Elderclaw on the Valguero map (locations are shown in the video).
- ⚠️ Prepare to kill it; you will need weapons or a strong dino.

2. 🌱 Domestication Process: Seed, Garden and Plant Requirements
- ✅ When you kill Elderclaw, you will get a seed.
- ✅ Plant the seed in a large, irrigated and fertilized garden.
- ✅ The garden must be surrounded by greenhouse structures.
- ✅ The plant will ask for specific items (list shown in the video).
- ✅ You have 5 minutes to give it each requested item.
- ✅ At the end of the process, the plant will contain an Elderclaw egg, which when claimed will give you your bear.

3. 🐾 Elderclaw Characteristics and Reproduction
- ✅ The final level of Elderclaw depends on the level of the original bear and how many items you gave the plant.
- ✅ It is omnivorous (eats meat and berries).
- ✅ When reproducing a pair, you will get a seed to repeat the planting process, not a direct offspring.
- ✅ It does not need a saddle; it has natural armor.

4. ⚔️ Elderclaw Stats, Attacks and Abilities
- ✅ It has a little less health than a Rex, but similar damage.
- ✅ You can use weapons and tools from its saddle.
- ✅ Its natural armor increases when you assign more points to it.
- ✅ It has good mobility and a good jump.

| Left Click | Alternates between left claw, right claw and bite. Farms meat, fiber, berries, thatch and wood. |
| Right Click | Advances several meters by ramming the target. |
| C Key | Launches a root attack that stuns large targets (10 second cooldown). |
| Control + C | Activates/deactivates a shield that reduces damage received by 25% (consumes more food). |
| Control + Right Click | Summons a totem that increases the damage of allies in the area (stackable up to 200%). |
