Best visibility settings in Escape From Tarkov 1.0: Bright and clear!
This guide provides the best settings to improve visibility in Escape From Tarkov 1.0, covering in-game configurations and graphics card adjustments to optimize brightness and clarity. Includes recommendations for NVIDIA and AMD users, as well as a guide to setting up hotkeys to adjust gamma on the fly.
RivaTuner Installation (2009):
1. 🎮 Game Settings: FOV, RAM Cleaning, and CPU Options
- ✅ Disable head bobbing.
- ✅ FOV (field of view) affects perceived recoil and visibility at a distance. A higher FOV reduces visual recoil but makes it harder to see far away. A lower FOV makes it easier to spot distant targets and use red dot sights.
- ✅ Enable the auto RAM cleaner to mitigate memory leaks.
- ✅ Enable the option for CPUs with many threads versus physical cores if applicable.

2. ⚙️ Graphics Configuration: Texture Quality, Shadows, LOD, Anti-aliasing, and More
- ✅ Use your monitor's native resolution and borderless screen mode.
- ✅ Disable VSync unless you use G-Sync or another similar technology.
- ✅ Texture quality is a matter of personal preference, but the "Ultra" setting is now the new "High".
- ✅ Shadow quality should be on "Low" for maximum tactical advantage.
- ✅ LOD (Level of Detail) quality affects the distance at which PMCs are rendered. A minimum of 2.5 is recommended, but the author uses 3.5.
- ✅ Overall visibility setting is a personal preference, but lowering it can save some frames per second (FPS).
- ✅ Anti-aliasing is a matter of preference. The author currently uses TAA because DLSS is bugged.
- ✅ HBAO on "High Performance" or "Maximum Performance" adds good shading without affecting performance too much.
- ✅ SSR (Screen Space Reflections) on "Medium" or "High" illuminates dark areas.
- ✅ Anisotropic filtering is a personal preference.
- ✅ NVIDIA Reflex should be enabled if possible to reduce latency. The author uses "On + Boost".
- ✅ Sharpness affects visibility in dark areas and detection in grassy areas.
- ✅ Enable Streets of Tarkov settings and grass shadows.

3. ✨ Post FX: Brightness, Clarity, and Sharpness for Better Visibility
- ✅ Brightness in negative values adds definition and counteracts the flashlight meta. Don't go below -30.
- ✅ Clarity adds detail, improves vision in fog, and reduces the effects of flashlights. The author leaves it at 35.
- ✅ Luma Sharpen helps outline objects and counteract flashlights.
- ✅ Adaptive Sharpen helps detect people at a distance through trees.

4. 🖥️ Display Settings: Graphics Card Configuration and Gamma Hotkeys with RivaTuner
- ✅ Adjust the desktop color settings through the NVIDIA or AMD control panel.
- ✅ Start with brightness 50, contrast 50, and gamma at 2.0. Adjust the contrast until the image is visible and comfortable.
- ✅ Adjust the brightness in the game if necessary.
- ✅ Consider using an older version of RivaTuner to configure hotkeys to adjust the gamma on the fly.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Brillo | Adjusts the overall brightness of the screen. |
| Contraste | Adjusts the difference between light and dark colors. |
| Gamma | Adjusts the color correction to improve visibility in dark areas. |
