WoW Midnight: Paladin - Huge Protection Paladin Changes!
The film discusses changes to the Paladin class in the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight Beta expansion. The biggest changes have affected the Protection Paladin, as well as the Holy Paladin, while the Retribution Paladin has remained largely unchanged. The author discusses changes to talent trees, new heroic talents, and compares the current state of the class with the Midnight beta.
1. Paladin: Changes to the general tree and Retribution
- ✅ Hammer of Wrath talent removed as a finisher. Now Judgment turns into Hammer of Wrath while Wings is active.
- ✅ Added a new talent, Vengeful Wrath, which increases Hammer of Wrath damage based on the target's missing HP.
- ✅ Added Fearful talent, reducing the duration of the Fear effect.
- ✅ Added Broad to Light talent, healing nearby allies after killing an enemy that grants experience or honor.
- ✅ Talent of Dusk and Dawn split into two separate talents.
- ❌ Seal of the Crusader removed.
- ➡️ Guided Prayer talent moved to the class tree from the Retribution tree.

2. Retribution Paladin: Improvements and talent changes
- ✅ 8 talents removed, streamlining the build.
- ✅ Final Reckoning combined with Execution Sentence.
- ❌ Justicar's Vengeance removed.
- ➡️ Divine Hammer moved to the Templar hero talent tree.
- ✅ Judge, Jury and Executioner talent has been reworked: Holy Power Spenders deal more damage, and after using Execution Sentence, the next Holy Power Spender is free.
- Apex talents are based on Art of War, increasing the damage of Blade of Justice, Final Verdict, and Divine Storm.

3. Holy Paladin: New talents and skill changes
- ❌ Holy Paladin lost the ability to interrupt.
- ✅ Added Ringing of Heavens talent, which provides 100% Divine Toll effectiveness after using Aura Mastery.
- ✅ SK Delivery talent enhances Mastery and provides increased movement speed while Wings is active.
- ✅ Added Serafic Barrier talent, which converts some of the healing from Word of Glory and Light of Dawn into absorption.
- ✅ Light of Dawn now heals everyone around, not just in front of the character.
- ➡️ Holy Prism moved to the main class tree.
- ✅ Liberation talent has been changed: after using Dawn of Glory or Light of Dawn, there is a chance to deal damage to nearby enemies.

4. Protection Paladin: Biggest changes to Mastery and talents
- 🔄 Mastery changed: Standing in consecration no longer provides damage reduction. Instead, the chance to block spells and DoTs has been increased.
- ❌ Repentance removed from the class tree (for Protection only).
- ❌ Holy Shield, Eye of Tyr and other talents removed.
- ✅ Added Imbute Shield, reducing magic damage after using Shield of Righteousness.
- ✅ Variant Crusade increases armor outside of combat (talent rated as strange).
- ✅ Seething Sunlight makes the next use of Consecration deal damage immediately.
- ✅ Solace talent increases healing from Consecration by 100% of the damage dealt.
- ✅ Undying heals for 100% of the damage dealt by Refine Fire.
- ✅ Vision of Sanctity increases damage from Consecration when it hits only one target.
- ✅ Instrument of the Divine allows you to increase the Holy Power cost of Shield of Righteousness, increasing its damage.
- ✅ Emperian Authority gives an additional charge to Guardian of Ancient Kings.
- ✅ Added Sweeping Verdict (Judgement bounces to nearby targets) and Adjudication (gives absorption when a target with Judgement attacks).
- ➡️ Zilot Paragon moved to tank only.

5. Hero Talents: Lightsmith, Templar and Herald of the Sun
- Lightsmith:
- Resonant Strike activates Hammer and Anvil after using Divine Toll.
- Reflection of Radiance gives a chance for a free Grand Crusader.
- Masterwork makes Holy Armament give weaker buffs to allies.
- Templar:
- Divine Hammer moved from the Retribution tree.
- Lights Judicator increases hammer damage and gives a chance to stack to Lights Deliverance.
- Choice between Divine Exactions (Divine Toll casts 2x extra) or Seal of the Templar (increases Final Verdict damage).

6. Hero Talents: Herald of the Sun - Walk into the Light, Endless Glim and Born in Sunlight
- Walk into the Light gives a 100% chance to activate the Blessing of An'she buff and generates 2 Holy Power.
- Endless Glim extends the duration of Dawnlight each time you use Divine Storm or Templar's Verdict.
- Born in Sunlight increases the chance of a critical strike with Light when you have wings active.
- Solar Grace does not stack, it only gives a constant 5% more haste.
