Ark: Astraeos: Secrets of the Hidden, Unreleased Underwater City and Aerial Floating IslandsAmazing secrets hidden in the unfinished sections of the Ark: Survival Ascended map 'Astraeos' have been revealed. The underwater city 'Atlantis', intentionally hidden by developers, and Avatar-esque floating islands have been unveiled, along with new NPCs, bosses, and unique movement systems, building anticipation among players. This video offers a sneak peek at the changes the final 20% update of Astraeos will bring.
Ark: Astraeos: Secrets of the Hidden, Unreleased Underwater City and Aerial Floating Islands
1. 🌊 Hidden Sections of Astraeos' Underwater World Discovered
· Below the Astraeos coast, there are many interesting elements like giant statues, abandoned buildings, and shipwrecks.
· Unlike other maps, this map is divided into several sections, currently about 80% complete.
· With the desert region update, two new underwater areas and a new island have been added.
· While the map looks massive from above, certain areas feel a bit bland because there are complete sections hidden beneath shaders and barriers.
· These hidden sections appear as strange square boxes covered in coral, seaweed, and a massive Tek force field.
· Developers have blocked off this area with two layers of protection: massive terrain, black post-processing boxes, and death barriers.
· One player figured out how to infiltrate this area in 30 minutes, but the specific method hasn't been revealed to prevent developers from patching it.

2. 🔱 Atlantis: Features of the Unreleased Underwater City
· This unreleased area is unofficially called 'Atlantis' and is a massive open-world underwater section that will change everything about Astraeos.
· This area is planned to be fully explorable, and 'Grand Tortugo' was originally designed for this region.
· Key structures include:
CategoryDetails
Giant BoxA massive air bubble, allowing players to live and walk freely underwater.
Tower inside the BoxNot an obelisk, but appears to be a pillar supporting this entire area.
Massive Force FieldSeveral beacon-like objects with a larger beacon in the center.
SharksCurrently stationary, but expected to swim around the center once the area is activated.
Giant TreeIts branches point downwards, suggesting a high gravitational density in this area. There's a theory that the force field could act as an independent bubble for free walking.
Abandoned RuinsTraces of a lost city, resembling an Ark version of Atlantis.

3. 👾 New NPCs and Item Drop Possibilities
· The ruins scattered across the seabed are very similar to the NPC spawn points found in the desert region.
· There's a theory that these ruins could be spawn points for new underwater NPC variants (reskinned Sailas).
· If not NPC spawn points, they are likely to be used as locations for underwater item drops.
04:40 - 06:38
4. ⚓ Underwater Obelisks and Port Areas
· The actual obelisk location looks identical to obelisks on other maps, featuring two statues and a ruined tower.
· This hints at the arrival of new bosses (at least one main boss and mini-bosses).
· A total of five port locations have been discovered.
Port NumberFeatures
FirstA massive area with underwater-style statues where coral grows.
SecondFeatures a mysterious cave.
ThirdSimilar to the first, with a beacon that appears to be a power source.
Last twoOne is large and the other is small, and you can walk inside them (system not fully implemented yet).
· All port areas apply a 'slow fall' effect when falling from a height, preventing fall damage.
06:39 - 09:00
5. 🏛️ Ruins and Visual Elements Near the World Border
· Near the world border, you can find ruins with three buildings, which could make for good base locations.
· The central building has a black Tek door, but it's currently blocked by an impenetrable barrier.
· Entering the building in ghost mode reveals an empty room, which may be developed into a proper area later or remain empty.
· This area features massive coral structures, making it visually stunning.
· New statues have been discovered:
Statue TypeFeatures
Stop PoseStriking a pose as if instructing to stop.
Warrior with Spear and ShieldA familiar statue seen elsewhere on the map.
Rock-lifting PoseAlso a statue seen in other areas.
Giant Arch-lifting PoseA new statue, which also looks like it's doing a Naruto run.
· Long blue crystal paths stretching across the map are similar to underwater crystal areas on other maps and offer visually stunning scenery.

6. cavern Underwater Cave Exploration and Features
· There are several caves in the underwater region.
Cave NumberFeatures
First CaveLocated inside a massive port, it initially appears huge but leads to a giant wall with a strange design. This wall connects to existing underwater areas and is expected to become a gateway to new sections in the future.
Second CaveFeatures a Tek-style entrance and many Aberrant characteristics like Aberrant-style mushroom trees, sticky liquid, crystals, mushroom bushes, and hanging vines from the ceiling. With flat terrain and a moderately sized entrance, it's a good base location.
Third CaveLocated very close to the second cave, beneath a statue, it has a larger and more traditional underwater-themed layout. With flat terrain and an easily defensible entrance structure, it's an excellent base location.
· Currently, there are only these three caves on the map, but considering other Astraeos expansions, it's expected that at least 10, and possibly more than 20, new caves will be added once this area is fully completed.
11:06 - 12:39
7. 🚶‍♀️ Underwater Movement System and New Islands
· Ramps scattered throughout the underwater areas suggest that a system allowing players to walk on the seabed will be introduced.
· This could be similar to Aquatica's 'Weighted Boots Skin' or the moon biome movement animation in Genesis Part 1.
· The fact that 'Grand Tour' can walk on the seabed also supports this theory.
· A new 'Avatar'-esque island has been discovered on the opposite side of the map.
· This island is accessible in ghost mode and features several statues and structures.
· Below the island, there are many new cave areas, but they are currently empty.
· In the left valley, there are two massive open areas, which appear to be cave entrances leading to a huge underground region.
12:40 - 14:24
8. 🏝️ Floating Islands and Developer Easter Eggs
· There are massive floating islands that look straight out of the Avatar movie, with long vines hanging down and an atmosphere similar to Crystal Isles.
· Some floating islands can be entered, featuring waterfalls and medium-sized spaces suitable for building.
· Higher areas have a circular courtyard, which could signify the appearance of another obelisk (making it a total of 5, the most on any Ark map).
· Astraeos is already the largest map in Ark, and it will become even bigger with the addition of this area.
· The previously mentioned massive entrance is expected to be a huge tunnel system connecting through the mountains to the top region.
· On one of the high floating islands, there's a small tower where a developer 'Nicootus' easter egg can be found.
ItemDetails
Interior CompositionA skeleton sitting on a chair (Nicootus), a bookshelf, a sign with Nicootus's name, and an unreleased Tek surveillance system.
Sign Message"Stop sniffing around, filthy halflings. Let me work."
14:25 - 15:31
9. 🔥 New Boss 'Barathos' and Update Outlook
· A new boss, 'Barathos', is set to be added to Astraeos. It is a fire-elemental Daeodon.
· Barathos can incinerate enemies with explosive attacks and is twice the size of a regular Daeodon.
· This boss has been confirmed for release in Summer 2026, suggesting that the full update will occur around that time.
· The final section of Astraeos looks very promising and has the potential to be Ark's best map.
· Considering Nicootus's previous expansions, this update is also expected to bring many unique features.
