Rust Deep Sea and Floating City Ultimate Guide: Conquering New Ocean ContentThe newly added deep sea region in Rust is full of rich loot, intense combat, and unique events. This guide provides all the information you need to fully explore the new marine content, from how to enter the deep sea to safe zones, missions, islands, ghost ships, and dangerous NPC patrol boats.
1. 🌊 Deep Sea Entry & Event Overview
· The deep sea is a new area outside the main world, spawning at a random location on the map each time an event starts.
· Events are not always active; they open for 3 hours, then have a random cooldown between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes.
· To enter the deep sea, players must use a player-made boat to travel to the edge of the map. Other boats or aircraft cannot enter.
· As you go deeper into the deep sea, a storm with rough waves and heavy rain forms, and you are teleported to the deep sea upon reaching a certain zone.
· The deep sea is a completely separate space from the mainland, and only one deep sea instance exists per server, so you can encounter other players.
· Within the deep sea, you can find small tropical islands, scientist patrols, ghost ships, and new merchant monuments.
· When 30 minutes remain until the deep sea closes, a storm with heavy rain and lightning rages. When 5 minutes remain, sirens sound and radiation begins to accumulate. You must escape, as you will die from radiation when the timer reaches 0.

2. ⚓ Floating City Safe Zone
· The Floating City has 9 merchants offering various items and services.
· Like other safe zones, if you've recently engaged in combat, turrets will consider you hostile and attack.
· The layout of the Floating City changes each time the deep sea resets, so you'll see a different appearance with each visit.
· In the center is the Deep Deck Casino, featuring gambling machines, musical instruments, and merchants.
· Utilities within the safe zone include:
· You can access a small farm for 150 scrap, which is useful if you plan to stay in the deep sea for a long time. Looting the farm yields the following items:

4. 🏝️ Exploring Tropical Islands
· Tropical islands are procedurally generated and scattered throughout the deep sea.
· These islands are full of resources and loot (nodes, ruined monuments, barrels, crates), but they are not entirely safe as scientists patrol them.
· Scientists found in the deep sea behave differently from those on the mainland. They can crouch, sneak, track, detect sounds, and deploy smoke grenades.
· Upon eliminating a scientist, you may find a cannon that can be used against other players.
· Coconut trees yield coconuts, which restore 2 health, 15 calories, and 50 hydration, making them useful when supplies are low.
· If you lose your boat, keep an eye on the coastline. Rowboats can spawn near docks, allowing you to travel again.
· Some island shores have boat crafting stations, where you can upgrade or build a new boat if yours is destroyed.
· Some islands have small ruins, and nearby you can find a radio receiver computer. Using it allows you to request a supply drop to the island, yielding valuable high-tier loot.
· Islands are good places to use a metal detector. Searching beaches and terrain can reveal buried loot, with a chance to unearth valuable items.

5. 🚢 Ghost Ships and Patrol Boats
· Ghost ships are scattered throughout the sea.
· Ghost ships contain up to 6 new scientists, along with basic crates, military crates, elite crates, barrels, and sometimes locked crates.
· Activating a locked crate starts a 15-minute timer and dispatches defensive patrols. During this time, 3 enemy boats arrive, including 2 large boats and 1 heavily armed PT boat.
· It may be advantageous not to destroy these patrol boats immediately, as they can serve to prevent other players from interfering with you while active.
· The sea is now much more dangerous thanks to roaming AI.
· RHIB Boat Patrols:
· Small AI RHIB boats with 3-6 scientists on board. They roam the sea, seeking out players for combat.
· PT Boat Patrols:
· These are dangerous entities. Heavily armed military vessels with the following characteristics:
· PT boats can be destroyed and sunk to the seabed, or you can eliminate the scientists and take control of the boat yourself.
· Wiping out the crew yields crates full of high-tier loot. If you sank the boat, you'll need to swim down to collect the loot. If you take control of the boat, you can pilot it yourself and operate the .50 caliber turret.

6. ➡️ Leaving the Deep Sea
· When you're ready to leave the deep sea, head towards the island billboard visible in the distance.
· Once you've traveled far enough, you'll be reloaded back to the mainland, where you can return home and unload your loot.
· If you are using a rowboat obtained from the deep sea, you cannot return to the mainland.
