· Upon arriving on Shinsenkyo, Shugen faces extreme experiences beyond imagination, putting his principles, beliefs, and strength to the test.

· Shugen's deep hatred for criminals stems from a tragedy in his childhood.
· Having lost his parents to bandits, Shugen fell into deep despair and from then on harbored a hatred for criminals.
· He believed that anyone who broke the law deserved merciless punishment.
· Frustrated and enraged when his parents' killers were not caught, Shugen sought out the Yamada clan and learned their teachings and discipline under the care of Yamada Asaemon Eizen.
· Initially, his anger and hatred made it difficult for him to get along with other clan members, but after his life was saved by Eizen and the clan members during a reunion with his parents' killer, he accepted the Yamada clan as his new family.
· Shugen then vowed to protect everyone in the Yamada clan and eventually avenged his parents.

· After years of training in the Yamada clan, Shugen earned the title of Yamada Asaemon and quickly rose to become the second strongest ronin.
· His most infamous achievement was executing members of the Yakuza Silver Serpent organization, forcing their boss to reveal the locations of other hidden members.
· After executing all the members, Shugen went further, executing each member's family and making the Shogun witness the entire process firsthand.
· This incident earned Shugen a very famous and simultaneously feared reputation, and his actions received the Shogun's approval, granting him a sword called 'Fuributsuku Kaniaki' and ceremonial robes.

· Although Shugen appears cruel, he is actually a very noble individual who takes pride in his position as an Asaemon.
· He deeply cares for his fellow Yamada clan members, worrying about their safety on Shinsenkyo and vowing to bring them back by any means necessary.
· He sometimes shows an emotional and delicate side when thinking of his comrades.
· Despite the Yamada clan's tendency to undervalue women as executioners, Shugen is one of the few who supports Sagiri Yamada Asaemon's qualifications and does not look down on Isuzu Yamada Asaemon.

· Shugen's fate was tragic, but he gained new power before his death.
· After tasting a small amount of the Elixir of Life to check for poison, Shugen gained the healing abilities of Flower Tao.
· However, because he only swallowed a small amount and then spat it out, his healing ability was much weaker than other Flower Tao users.
· It took longer for his wounds to heal, he could not regenerate severed limbs, and the effects were not immediate.
· After this power finally manifested, Shugen's right arm, which he had previously burned to cover his wounds, slowly healed without his knowledge.
