Fallout 4 Switch 2, huge graphics improvement with a DLSS update! But what's still disappointing?Fallout 4 for Nintendo Switch 2 has seen significant visual quality improvements in 40FPS and 60FPS modes with a DLSS update. The convenience has also increased as quality settings can now be changed in-game, but the lack of gyro or mouse control support, which was present in Skyrim, remains a disappointment.

1. 🎮 Fallout 4 Switch 2: DLSS Update and Convenience Improvements
· Bethesda has applied a DLSS update to Fallout 4 for Nintendo Switch 2, significantly improving the visual quality in 40FPS and 60FPS modes.
· This update does not affect the 30FPS Quality mode, as that mode already runs at native resolutions of 1080p handheld and 1440p docked.
· Various bug fixes have been implemented, including improvements to light flickering and unresponsive NPC issues.
· One of the most welcome changes is the ability to change quality settings in-game. Previously, switching modes required exiting to the main menu, changing settings, and then reloading the game, which was cumbersome.
· DLSS is automatically disabled on UI-heavy screens such as the Pip-Boy, menus, and computer terminals to maintain text clarity. This is a smart decision to prevent text clarity issues.

2. ✨ DLSS Visual Effects and Changes in 40FPS Balance Mode
· The most disappointing aspect of this update is that mouse mode or gyro controls, which were implemented in Skyrim, have still not been added.
· DLSS on Switch 2 focuses on 'efficiency over perfection' unlike high-end PCs. While there may be some minor visual issues during movement, the image sharpening and upscaling capabilities are top-notch.
· It upscales from 540p to 1080p, enabling high-quality textures and lighting effects that were not possible at native resolutions.
· A clear difference can be felt after applying DLSS in 40FPS Balance mode. At first, it may not seem like a big change, but upon closer inspection, small textures and lighting come to life.
· Floor textures are sharper, light reflects off buildings, and distant textures are clearer. Trees look less artificial, and overall, the 'vaseline-smeared' blurry feeling has been reduced.
· The depth of shadows and foliage has been enhanced, greatly improving the visual quality of Balance mode. Now, the visual difference with Quality mode is minimal, making 40FPS Balance mode the best version to play.

3. 🚀 60FPS Performance Mode Improvements and Lingering Control Disappointment
· The 60FPS Performance mode also shows very noticeable visual improvements after DLSS application. While the visuals of Performance mode were not great at launch, individual brick textures can now be distinguished, and lighting effects are fantastic.
· Small details like railings on doors and windows are also sharper. Wooden planks on buildings that were blurry before the patch now show individual planks, shading, and texture.
· Trees have greatly improved, but distant trees still look somewhat rough. Lighting was already good, but with DLSS applied, 'God Rays' effects shine even brighter.
· Character models show little difference between the three modes, with differences mainly appearing in subtle details of clothing and the lighting and clarity of the background.
· There is now little reason to play Quality mode, and the choice between 40FPS Balance mode and 60FPS Performance mode will depend on preference between visual fidelity and responsiveness.
· There is an expectation that if mouse mode were added, the combination of 40FPS and mouse mode could be a sufficiently good compromise.

4. 📊 Frame Stability and Price Policy Evaluation
· Frame rates are generally stable, with both 40FPS and 60FPS modes showing consistent performance. Some irregularities in Balance mode appear to have been improved.
· Minor frame drops may occur during intense gunfights or scenes with many particle effects, but overall, performance remains consistent.
· Occasional input lag was also experienced during jumps or melee attacks in Balance mode.
· DLSS excels at upscaling and sharp textures but tends to sacrifice motion blur to save processing power.
· While this update doesn't make the game look like it's not a 2014 game, the implementation itself is positive.
· The biggest hurdle remains the price. The high price can be a burden, especially for returning buyers. While it offers a sufficiently valuable experience for new players, many are expected to wait for a sale.
