Dplus KIA wins against DRX after a close match.
Dplus KIA defeated DRX in a full-set match at the 2023 League of Legends Challengers Korea League held at the WDG Esports Studio on the 24th, achieving their 13th victory.
In the first set, DRX took the early lead based on the performance of their jungler. Also, 'Deokdam'’s Xayah performed well in the bottom lane, gaining an advantage in the laning phase with the help of the jungler. With 'SeTab'’s Tristana also performing well in the mid lane, DRX took the lead in all lanes and secured a complete victory by destroying the opponent's Nexus in just 24 minutes with a stable snowball.
In the second set, DRX continued the winning atmosphere from the first set, scoring a solo kill in the top lane and gaining advantages in engagements. However, Dplus KIA began to close the gap by taking the Baron buff through a Baron fight. The two teams fought fiercely in the mid-game, making it impossible to predict the winner. DRX seemed to seize the victory by catching the opponent's bottom duo in a late-game engagement. However, Dplus KIA showed ingenuity and rushed straight to the opponent's Nexus for an all-in push, narrowly destroying the opponent's Nexus and winning the second set.
In the third set, DRX also took the lead against Dplus KIA. Once again, the damage dealers 'Deokdam' and 'SeTab' performed well, forcing Dplus KIA to fight a difficult battle. Still, Dplus KIA concentrated until the end of the game and dragged the game to the late game, seizing the opportunity for a comeback by winning the Baron fight in the 32nd minute.
Dplus KIA reversed the global gold in the 33rd minute and seemed to end the game by winning the dragon fight in the 35th minute. However, DRX top laner 'Frog' showed ingenuity in clearing the lane, and Dplus KIA was once again in danger of losing, but managed to barely prevent the game from ending with a desperate resistance.
With the game time exceeding 40 minutes, it became a battle of concentration between the two teams. In particular, the performance of the bottom laners of both teams became important. Dplus KIA faced DRX's advancing base head-on, and bottom laner 'Rahel' performed well here, leading Dplus KIA to victory after a difficult battle. Mid laner 'Fullbae', who showed impressive performance throughout the game, was awarded the POG of the third set.
