Persona Devs Unveil New Title, 'Metaphor: Refantazio'
Sega Publishing Korea (CEO Saito Go) announced at the Xbox Games Showcase that Atlus' new RPG game 'Metaphor: Refantazio' will be released on Xbox Series X|S and Windows in 2024. 'Metaphor: Refantazio' is the official title of 'PROJECT: Re FANTASY' announced by Atlus' Studio Zero.
Metaphor: Refantazio is a new RPG that depicts a unique worldview where fantasy and reality are mixed, with Atlus' unique graphics, illustrations, and play style. Key Persona series developers are participating, including director Katsura Hoshino, who directed Persona 3 through 5, character designer Shigenori Soejima, who was in charge of character art from Persona 3, and Persona series sound director Shoji Meguro, raising fans' expectations.
Along with the showcase announcement, Sega opened its official website and released key art drawn by Shigenori Soejima and some gameplay screens. The battle screen shows a design that mixes the modern sensibility of the Persona series with fantasy, and a rough overview of the battle system, such as skills, weapons, and special moves, can also be seen. In particular, familiar elements for Persona fans are noticeable at the bottom, such as 'Analyze', which has traditionally appeared in the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, and 'Assist', which automatically designates skills that can target enemy weaknesses.
Meanwhile, Sega will stream a 'Metaphor: Refantazio Title Announcement Special Broadcast' on YouTube to commemorate the official announcement of 'Metaphor: Refantazio'. 'Mafia Kajita', who is familiar with Atlus information broadcasts, and voice actress Tomomi Isomura, a fan of the Persona series who played Hifumi Togo in Persona 5, will host the broadcast, which will also support Korean. More information about the special broadcast will be released on the Atlus Facebook page.
'Metaphor: Refantazio' is scheduled to be released on PC and Xbox in 2024, and more information can be found on the official website in the future.
