Pikmin 4 Review ⭐8.8
The Pikmin series is a game that perfectly fits the saying 'cute appearance with not-so-cute difficulty.' And this series, Pikmin 4, doesn't miss out on that paradoxical aspect either.
Although opinions may vary, the Pikmin following you around with flowers on their heads and Oatchi, who is undeniably cute, will keep a smile on your face throughout the game. Every time a new type of Pikmin appears, I can't help but clutch my heart, and if Pikmin die due to a wrong choice, my heart flutters in a different way.
At the same time, the gameplay aspect of the game isn't just easy. The first impression is refreshing, but the more you learn, the richer it becomes, and the deeper the content and gameplay become, requiring more and more thought. But it's never heavy.

Planning Power Embedded in Leisure
The biggest advantage of Pikmin 4 is that, despite being the fourth series, you hardly feel any barriers to entry. Even though it clearly captures the unique gameplay of the series. This is thanks to the much more diverse modes, very friendly explanations, and the various new contents added.
By taking a long tutorial process, they gave enough time to adapt to the game, and because there are no major time limits or restrictions on missions, even players who are new to the series can slowly learn the Pikmin series' gameplay as much as they want.

In the case of Pikmin 4, the difficulty adjustment is very well done. Rather than dividing the difficulty directly in the game, it allows players to create their own experience.
This is because there is no particular period or time limit for the main mission. You just have to wander around the map you want and rescue the crashed astronauts. Time flows after entering the map, but what to do until that entry, and even after entering, is up to the player.
If you are confident in your planning skills, you can bravely leave to explore new areas right away, or if you are a little lacking in planning skills like me, you can diligently explore existing areas to upgrade your equipment and Oatchi to challenge new areas.

Of course, the process is not just loose or relaxed. Once you enter the map, the 'time' limit begins to flow. You can do anything before sunset, but you have to plan what to do within that given time, what treasures to collect, and what caves to enter.
In other words, 'planning power' is embedded in leisure. Someone may collect one treasure in a day, but someone with a lot of planning power may collect five treasures. And what makes this planning power stand out is the terrain and attributes of the map.

Because there are obstacles with specific attributes such as elevation differences, water, electricity, ice, and fire, it is essential to look at the map and think about the best solution, rather than just moving in a group. This also applies to caves and battles.
However, even if you make a mistake due to lack of planning, you don't have to worry too much. This is because there is a rewind to make the challenge process less burdensome. Since the rewind point is not extreme, you can try it first, and if it fails, you can try again.

Pikmin and Oatchi, Reliable Arms
Our cute friend, Oatchi, is also a powerful feature and advantage of Pikmin 4 that cannot be missed. Oatchi, who newly appeared in this episode, plays a big role in playing the game more diversely and easily. It's basic to carry the main character and Pikmin around everywhere, and it also gives tremendous help in battle with a powerful rush, and it does the work of dozens of Pikmin alone.

Not only that. There are also specific operations that only Oatchi can do. It plays a big role in solving puzzles in caves, which are the concept of dungeons, through dog holes, breaking objects to open blocked roads, or shaking objects with a rush to drop them.
At the same time, Oatchi has the ability to find various hidden objects, making the game much more convenient. Treasures buried in the ground that are difficult to find can also be found very easily using Oatchi's excellent sense of smell.

The existence of a switching system that allows you to operate the main character and Oatchi alternately reinforces this aspect. You can use Oatchi as a partner who can easily get help in the play process, or you can operate it directly like another playable character.
It's not just a Pikmin that looks different, but it includes many things that only Oatchi can do clearly, and it's presented to the series as a completely new helper and central element.

The night mode, which was added for the first time in the series, also provides a new experience. The night mode, which protects the Glowcaps with Glow Pikmin, is completely different from the adventure day mode, and it proceeds closer to defense.
Of course, in the case of night mode, it is close to a special mode, so it is not that various rewards are provided like day mode, so you don't have to play it multiple times. When our astronaut friends become leaf people, you can enter and protect the Glowcaps once in a while.

In addition, Pikmin 4 also provides various modes that allow you to build up the planning power that is the core of Pikmin 4. A mode that makes you think 'planning' by quickly and accurately collecting various objects in the map within a given time, and a mode that allows you to train your planning power more interestingly through battles with AI.

In this way, Pikmin 4 has a system in place so that even people who are new to the game can fully experience and become familiar with how the game works. There is no time limit or limit on the number of attempts, so you can make various challenges, and you can improve your lack of planning skills through practice.
And the most important thing is that anyone can enjoy the play that suits them as much as anyone can easily access the game. Someone can play the game leisurely, and someone can play it very tightly.

Even people who are afraid of failure can bravely rush through the rewind that returns to the situation before the attempt, and everyone who wants to complete all maps 100%, who wants to quickly challenge various maps, and who wants to make their planning power perfect can achieve what they want.
Personally, Pikmin 4 has brought the best elements from the existing series and mixed those elements really well with the new content of the 4th episode. It's like a colorful flower called 'Pikmin' has bloomed.

- Perfect as an entry point to the series, low barrier to entry
- Planning power that can be unfolded without major restrictions
- Versatile Oatchi different from Pikmin
- Rewind that doesn't fear challenges
- Features and gameplay of the series that have not been missed
- The early part that can be a little stretched
