Phil Spencer: "Activision Blizzard acquisition will have positive results"

What's Next for Gaming (WNFG), which covers Xbox's vision and the future of gaming, was held in LA, USA. Following the Xbox Games Showcase, senior Xbox executives, including Phil Spencer and Todd Howard, participated in the private conversation for global media.
Phil Spencer said, "The role that Microsoft can play in the gaming industry is to sometimes give tension and sometimes give strength to the entire industry through growth," and revealed that Xbox360 made Microsoft what it is today, but now it is earning about twice as much revenue as then. At the same time, he said that they will work hard on both PC and console sides so that gamers don't think Xbox is boring and can be with more players.
At the same time, he said that Game Pass, consoles, PCs, and the cloud are all big communication channels that connect developers and gamers, so they will continue to work hard to deliver a good experience to both developers and gamers.
Regarding the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, he said, "The reason we invested a huge amount of $70 billion to acquire it is because Activision Blizzard has grown by providing games on various platforms, and I thought this could provide a solution for new growth for Microsoft." He added, "We have already received merger approval in 40 countries, and now we are focusing on approval in the United States and the United Kingdom."
He went on to say that he hopes to achieve positive results in the remaining process, just as he did in the European Union (EU).

We also got to hear a short story about Starfield. Todd Howard said that he is very happy to finally be able to show what he has been working on, and that Starfield will be a game where you can get more freedom and enjoyment the more time you invest in it.
Finally, Phil Spencer said that the game he has enjoyed playing the most recently is Diablo 4, and that Zelda is also an excellent game, and he was impressed with Spider-Man 2, which was recently shown at the Sony Showcase. He concluded the conversation by saying that 2023 will be a great year for the gaming ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Xbox introduced a total of 25 games, including 11 works from Xbox Game Studios, such as Starfield and Forza Motorsport, and 14 works from partners, through the Xbox Games Showcase on the 12th (Monday) Korean time. In the Starfield Direct that followed, detailed information about Bethesda's highly anticipated Starfield was revealed.
