Hanwha Life Esports Challengers, Take Their First Win Against T1 Academy

Hanwha Life Esports Challengers defeated T1 Esports Academy 2-0 in the first match of Week 2, Day 1 of the '2023 LCK Challengers League (LCK CL)' Summer Split held at the WDG Esports Studio on the 12th. It was a valuable first victory after two consecutive losses at the start.

In the first set, T1 had a good start. T1 put pressure on Hanwha Life Esports' bottom duo, who picked Kog'Maw, creating a growth gap and unilaterally taking 2 kills in the first 5v5 teamfight. Hanwha Life Esports, who lost the initiative, focused on 'raising Kog'Maw'. 'Lure' Shin Jae-yoon's Kog'Maw, who was in charge of the 'carry role', was growing well, taking kills and assists without dying even in unfavorable situations.

And around 24 minutes, Kog'Maw's growth shined. 'Dal' Moon Jung-wan's Malphite hit three people with his ultimate, but while the attention was focused on that, Kog'Maw, who had a free deal, dealt a whopping 6,000+ damage. T1 seemed to take a breather by cutting off Kog'Maw in the dragon fight, but they suffered a major defeat in the battle by hitting Baron somewhat hastily. Hanwha Life Esports, who had a clear advantage, took the first set to victory.

The second set that followed flowed quite tightly from the beginning. When 'Forest' Lee Hyun-seo's Viego succeeded in a top ganking, 'Romer' Cho Woo-jin and 'Grizzly' Cho Seung-hoon entered the counter jungle and caught Viego. In response, T1 ambushed Hanwha Life Esports, who were hitting the dragon, creating a 1:1 kill exchange. Hanwha Life Esports went one step further. Following 'Grizzly' Lee Sin's ganking, they unilaterally won the joining fight, creating a meaningful gap.

Around the 14th minute, a frontal teamfight broke out at the Rift Herald. 'Grizzly' kicked 'Smash' Shin Geum-jae's Aphelios at a perfect angle, and Hanwha Life Esports beat up the clustered Viego-Gwen-Aphelios, winning the battle. The balance of the game was completely broken as even 'Poby' Yoon Seong-won, who was trying to finish off 'Duro' Joo Min-gyu's Milio, was caught. Hanwha Life Esports, who had a gap of more than 10,000 gold, won the second set without any change.
