Shiquz Clinches Championship at Teamfight Tactics Macao Open as Riot Unveils 2025 Plans
Shiquz from China emerged victorious at the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Macao Open, concluding a three-day event packed with competitive gameplay and fan activities. The tournament, held at the Venetian Macao, featured 512 competitors vying for a share of the $300,000 prize pool, with Shiquz taking home the prestigious Tactician’s Belt and $100,000.
The Macao Open celebrated TFT’s five-year milestone, highlighting the franchise’s impressive growth to over 300 million players worldwide. This expansion spans across various platforms, including TFT for PC and mobile, as well as titles like Fight for the Golden Spatula and Golden Spatula in Southeast Asia.
During the event, Riot Games unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for 2025, outlining exciting new content and features for players. Highlights include:
- Three Set Revivals: Kicking off with Fates: Festivals of Beasts in January.
- Set 14: Fight for Control of Cyber City, launching in March.
- Revamped Double Up: Introducing custom lobbies in Spring.
- Set 15: An anime-style fighting tournament set for July.
- PvE Experience: A new player-versus-environment mode planned for Summer.
- Set 16: A return to Runeterra scheduled for Winter.
In addition to the tournament, attendees had the first opportunity to play Project K, Riot’s new physical trading card game. Featuring artwork from across Runeterra, Project K is designed for strategic competition and supports various formats, including 1v1, 2v2, and 1v1v1v1 matches. The game is slated for an early 2025 release in China, with a global launch to follow.
The event also showcased exclusive Teamfight Tactics: Into the Arcane experiences, including custom-built activations inspired by iconic locations such as Zaun and Jinx’s Hideout. Fans could participate in side events, with in-game cosmetics as prizes, and explore immersive environments like the Anomaly entrance tunnel and the Piltover Council Room-designed stage.
Looking ahead, Riot announced that the TFT Macao Open will move to Paris in December 2025, marking the next chapter in TFT’s global competitive scene.
