[TownStar] The reason why you need to divide the farm industry residence area in advance.

In Town Star, all the tiles available to build towns are in 16 x 16. The space that you can immediately use depends on the terrain, but as you get rid of the unnecessary wood, marsh, and shrubs over time, the available area will be the same in the end.

While there's a lot of flexibility on the number of tiles available, there are a lot of factors to consider when building structures. Each structure has factors such as shade, wind blocks, pollution, etc that can reduce production efficiency. This is called the proximity effect. Details can be looked at in separate articles, but for better understanding for beginners, you must divide up compartments before building structures.

It may sound grandiose, but in reality, it's not that hard to understand. You designate the land for farming, for various industrial facilities, as well as for the workers' house, and place them accordingly.

For example, corn fields, sugar cane fields, and tree farms are sensitive to pollution and shade, but they don't affect each other negatively. So there's no need to worry about bundling up in the same area. Industrial facilities produce pollution and shade, so it's lethal for crops. However, the production time of these items from the industrial facilities aren't affected by such factors, so they can be grouped together.

The worker house has a base of two shade tiles, and the forklift used by the higher paid workers also takes up two pollution tiles. That's why the worker house should be built far away from the farm area, and the higher paid workers should be placed near the industrial area, where it already has a high level of pollution.

Please do note that there's no need for a direct road that connects the workers' house to the farm nor the industrial facilities. When the workers have work, the workers continue working and do not come back to the worker house, so for efficiency purposes, placing roads at the corner of the map and building worker houses in a cross formation allows you to build more worker houses. Furthermore, ATVs at farms only produce one shade tile, so building them near the windmill or farms will help you utilize your space to the fullest.
